Kids get chicken pox all the time even after being immunized. Thankfully it is usually a minor case. They can also get shingles after being immunized for pox. Has your brother in law and family had them?? If they have I'd say you are ok.

Try going here... they have a picture of a chicken pox. Be patient though, it took a while to come up. You can view it in large, medieum or huge... You might want to press (huge) so you can see it better. Hope it helps... :)

My dd had the chicken pox after being vaccinated too. She didn't have as many as the other kids, but they still looked like chicken pox.

You've probably already figured it out by now, but do they look like blisters or just red spots? If they don't look like blisters I'd guess it's hives or a rash of some sort.

Good luck in finding out what it is.

I'm one of those unusual people that has had chicken pox twice. First time was very mild in Kindergarten. My parents didn't even recognize it but I was at the doctors for something else and he told them. Second time was as a Freshman in HS. My brother and sister both got them and I seem to have gotten a double dose. So bad they even went down my thought. Really, really painfull! I guess it was the same thing as getting a vaccine. A very mild exposure that isn't always enough to prevent the first time around.

Most adults that haven't actually had chicken pox have already aquired enough immunity by the time they are adults. I think I read that 75% of adults that haven't had chicken pox symptoms have aquired immunity. The people you need to avoid are those with lowered immune systems and certain diseases. Like someone in cemo. Or an asmatic. I was pregnant when a coworkers kids got them. The OB doc told me that as long as I didn't catch them there was no problem. And I think they were only concerned about my having open scabs at delivery time not during the first trimester like with measels. Since I had them twice already that wasn't a problem!

Hope your DS is feeling all better!
