Does anyone have or know anyone who has MS? I went to a neurologist for the numbness, dizzyness and numerous other symptoms I've been having and he said it was a possibility but couldn't know for sure until after the pregnancy as he can't do an MRI until then. They are going to do an EEG to check for seizures this month. He said the other possibities are seizures, stress, strokes or nothing at all. But as with the MS they can't check for strokes until they can do an MRI. I read some on MS and I have most of the symptoms...

Mandy, sorry but I can't help with any information on MS. I don't know anyone who has it. Please know that I am thinking about you, and that I hope everything works out okay.

What a beautiful family you have :)

That's what they keep testing me for. An MRI won't be conclusive, but a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) is.

Have they tested you for gestational diabetitis? That can mimic the symptoms of MS. Is it possible that the baby is sitting on a nerve? That can cause the numbness and tingling too.

Take care.

They don't think it is related to the pregnancy because it gets better with pregnancy and worse a few months after delivery(one reason they think it may be MS).

I've never been good at waiting on answers. I don't like the idea of waiting another 6-9 months to get the MRI done. I know the wait can't be helped, but it's still annoying.

Seems like pregnancy is the best time I have, less endo pain no numbness attacks or other stuff, more energy.

The numbness comes in sudden attacks, usually not very often. It starts with dizziness and blurred vision and a slight headache behind my eyes. Then one arm will usually go numb and then my face, tongue and throat go numb. The numbness is not like a body part falling asleep. I literally can't feel it and lose my sense of touch in that part. With my face I feel like my whole head has been numbed with novacaine. I usually feel aweful the rest of the day w/ fatigue and headache. All the attacks I've had recently were before pregnancy and during my first month or 2 of pregnancy. I'm glad I am feeling better now other than a cold... Maybe I just need to stay barefoot and pregnant ;)

Have they considered for migraine? There is a certain migraine that has very similiar symptoms...but you need an MRI for that too.

The neurologist hadn't mentioned that. He did a complete medical history, family history and symptom questioning. He said with the info he had those were the things he thought it could be. Maybe he didn't think about it. The reason I doubt migraines is because my headaches are really mild with the attacks. From what I've heard of migraines mine aren't nearly that bad. Not sure though. When I went to the ER they told me it might be complicated migraines. I had mentioned it to the neurologist and he didn't say anything about it when he mentioned the possibilities. Who knows? I guess I just need to get used to being patient...

My dh has a form of migraines that cause strokes. He never had a horrible headache with it either.

This is the migraine I was thinking about Basilar Artery Migraine.

right before I left Germany, they were testing a friend of mine for MS. She didn't have the results back before I left, and I have lost touch with her. I will try to find her and she if she has any advice. Other than that I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
