View Full Version : summer stuff out already
I stopped at Target today and they are actually filling the shelves with sidewalk chalk, bubbles and water toys. Dh and I were laughing. We have at least three more months of snow, and probably five more months before beach weather. I don't think we're ready for our swimsuits yet. I just think it is strange to be so far ahead of the seasons.

Yea, silly me went to town this weekend to find a suade skirt and boots - no way. All they had out were capri pants and tank tops. We just got our first taste of winter 2 weeks ago.
Think how we feel when they are selling WOOL in August here!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! 8o It feels like they just started clearancing that stuff out and now they are already restocking it???( Do they not see the snow outside?? ;) It bugged me enough to see Valentine's stuff out the day after Christmas. I'll guess I'll just never understand the marketing ploys. LOL!

I thought it was kind of odd too. But after working in retail and dh being a manager at wal-mart I understand it all. They get all kinds of stuff so they need enough time to sell it. It goes by seasons and holidays .
OK when Christmas is here and is selling they clearance it the day after and try to sell it out Then they go through an Organize period with all the plastic stuff also all the business stuff for tax time. That's inside the store the seasonal area near the candy. Then they immediately put out the Valentine's stuff. When that's clearance what do you think goes out? Exactly Easter Candy. They may put bulk plactic instead for a little brief period. Or bbq stuff.Meanwhile all the summer stuff is filling up the back room. But once Christmas is gone in the Garden center it automatically goes to Spring/ Summer stuff. What are they suppose to put there otherwise?
Like when the Christmas candy is gone they do the plastic and tax stuff like I said earlier.
Well the summer stuff is out and selling then gets clearance I think in August or maybe late July in time for people to start school shopping.. 'Cause it's back to school and back to college time. So the fall clothes are out now and the plastics and stuff for college. Then a little after school goes back Christmas is already being set. The grills are going and patio furniture and all that in the garden center next holiday/season is Christmas.
So it goes from Jan. Christmas clearance, organize time and tax time, valentine, they may put charcoal and picnic stuff in between that and Easter,I think they have a spring cleaning period where they put out more plastics, then Summer stuff includint picnic and bbq in the seasonal areas, back to school and college, winter stuff, halloween, thanksgiving and Christmas.
There might be more than I have it's just off the top of my head. Also some depts. don't do the holidays . Like Garden center goes from CHristmas to Summer to Christmas again...

:snickers: :p
oh, I laugh too...I can't believe that you can't find snow boots for kids now, and its really snowy here....LOL....I can't wait for spring...but its funny how they sell the wrong season stuff at the wrong time...
I understand that some stuff has to come out early, but I really can't think about beach toys in January. We can't go to the beach here until June, that's a long time away. I could see more spring like things out but they have the summer things out up here.

When I was at Target the other night I noticed that they had almost all of their winter clothes on clearance. I couldn't believe it! They're already promoting all of their Valentine things... which I guess isn't THAT far away now, but they started that right after Christmas. LOL They sure don't waste any time, do they... LOL
Diane...
