OK..I am ticked. I logged on this am (around 7:30), went to view new posts and there were a ton. I didn't get to read ANY cause something came up, well now I log on and it is telling me there are no new posts!!!!!!!! So do I have to go back through every single thread to look for the ones that were here at 7:30 that I didn't get to read?????? :(

Try it now. I just changed the time of your last visit. I'm not sure if it will work though.

Nope. So, if we log on but can't read all the new posts at that visit, we lose them???
David, make the posts change colors.....whine..........

I'm with you Ann! I find that a short visit is really not worth it for the same reason you said....when I come back later, it won't list all of the posts I didn't get a chance to read.
Hope you can do something about this David!

I've done this a few times too... I got up to go do something and dd came along and stole my computer from me. LOL By the time I came back they were ALL GONE!!! ;( I wasn't too happy about it either and yes... I did go back and reread them all... ugh!!! I guess I wasn't too busy at the time but if I had been, I probably wouldn't have bothered taking the time. ;)

It's happened to me, too, and I totally agree that it's annoying when that happens.

David, in UBB, when you "view today's active topics", you can see all posts from midnight to midnight of the present day. It does clear at midnight, however, and that would be a problem if you don't visit daily, but I don't think that's too much of a problem here! And that would be a way to get people to check in at least once! ;)

OH...and here's something Annie will like...the viewed posts CHANGE COLOR!!! Whooo-eeeee! ;)

Here's an example:
http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi

Click on the "Click Here To View Today's Active Topics (all public forums)" link at the top left of the page. Then, when you click on a topic and hit the "back" button, you will see that it has changed color.

Can't you do that here, David?

I'm checking into all of your suggestions and I promise I'll do what I can! :)

As far as the "View all today's active posts", you can do that here as well. You just have to be logged out. I'll see if I can override that though and have both choices show up.

To see it, on the home page at the bottom right is the logout link. Once you logout it will change the link above to show "View all active posts" or something like that.

Thanks!

What a guy! I did go and check that out and it was good...except for the logging out and in thing. Oh, and I don't want to sound like the Queen, but...no color change! LOL!

Thanks, David!

I found a few minutes to log in an d see what was happening this morning while dh had the kids out skating at the park. Now I have to sign off to go to a chiropractor appointment and pick up a few graceries and when I come back the new message indicators will be erased. What a pain. I'll try and make my way through them later today. Dh and I are off to the sunny south tomorrow. Yippeee, a break from the snow!!!!! :)

David, it did it be me again except I hadn't even clicked the view new posts and started over...this time I logged on clicked view new posts, got message that search didn't find anything, but went to the main lists and there were about 10 new posts! What's going on? I am very stressed, bloated and with acne don't do this to me!!!!!! LOL

also, on the main thread page why do some of the posts have faces, some of the envelopes have like exclamation points around them?

I sure hope you guys haven't given up on this thread. I figured out this problem a while back, after dh would come and kick me off so he could do something he considered more important than gabbing, lol...

If you go back to the forums page before you exit the board, then when you come back the posts you haven't read will still be listed. Try it! I'm much happier now that I figured it out. :)

PS-- I almost wasn't going to ever read this thread, I never do. Then curiosity got the better of me.

I finally made it back but what a CRAZY day it has been. Spencer fell while skating with dh this morning and knocked out one of his front teeth. Brian took him directly to the dentist. He's fine and off and running again. He spent most of the afternoon outside playing hockey in the driveway with a neighbor boy. I am having a hard time getting used to looking at his cute little smile and seeing a gap where his tooth was just this morning. Luckily it was a baby tooth and not a permanent one.

The kids are both in bed and asleep and dh is at his brothers with some last minute details on looking after the house and where to reach us etc.
The kids fly out at 6:20 (with Nana) to Brian's sisters place in BC. They are really excited. We leave just a bit later on our own week away. ;) A friend of ours has a condo in Orlando that he is letting us use for the week (free of charge). (Brian arranged this as part of my Valentine surprise). We should be there by noon tomorrow. :)

Look out sunshine, and green grass, here I come!
Talk to you all when we get back.

It sounds like you've had a busy day! Bummer about Spencer's tooth... It's a very good thing it was a baby tooth and not a permanent one. I'm sure he looks pretty different without it being there though. LOL

I hope your kids have a great time at their aunt's house... it sounds like their really excited about the trip. Have they ever been on an airplain before? I hope they enjoy their experience. :) What a great deal on the condo too... you certainly can't complain about the cost. LOL What a nice friend to let you use it. Your dh was SO sweet to do this for you... what a great guy! :) Hope you enjoy yourselves... and when you come back you've got to let us know how your trip went. :)

Just got back and read your post. The "land of no yucky white stuff" was great. Don't worry the grass and sunshine has to head North soon! I'm beginning to see signs already!
