View Full Version : I wasn't going to butt in.... but....
To be brutally honest Valerie, if you're going to post as a psychologist then go to a psych board. This is a parenting board. And to be welcomed on a parenting board it's usually best not to "preach" or try to "teach" but to share your opinions and ideas when asked for and ask for the ideas and opinions of others. You sort of got off on the wrong foot with your first few posts!
Maybe try re-introducing yourself. I'm a SAHM of three dc, Rachel 9, Andrew 6 and Bethany 4. We are homeschooling Rachel and the other two are in school for now. My favorite (non-mom) activities are reading, crafting and rough-housing with our German Shepherd pup, Bella.

I agree...and I've said so in the past when responding to Valerie's posts! Don't preach...we're all here to chat and enjoy e-company! :) I agree that a "Psychology" based board would be better for her...but would suggest that she learn to spell PSYCHOLOGIST before joining a new site! LOL
Glad you figured it out, Mary! :0P I hit the new thread button instead of the post reply button.

I had a hard time believing after all of the education and money spent to get a psychologist degree one wouldn't know how to even spell it correctly! :)

I didn't mean to be rude or hurtful, Valerie. Can we start over? I, too, would like you to re-introduce yourself and see if we can get back on the right foot.
How old is your daughter? Do you have any other kids? Where did you go to school and get your Ph.D? What school of thought do you most closely follow? Are you a Freudian? What is the focus of your practice? Are you a family psychologist? Do you most closely deal with children and their psychological and emotional development?
Now I'll share a bit about myself... I live in Nevada and I'm married (nearly 13 years) with one ds (almost 5 yo). I have always found the field of psychology fascinating and seriously thought about pursuing it as a career, but I ended up doing hair instead! LOL! (Less time in school! ;)) After developing serious allergies to the salon chemicals, I went back to school and learned about computers and have been doing office work for the most part since. I was a SAHM until ds was almost 4 and I am now the part-time office manager and corporate secretary for our software development and integration company.
I'm looking forward to picking your brain about some things, so I really do hope you don't leave!

I agree with all of the above comments. Why don't you reintroduce yourself and get off to a fresh start?

I'll start over as an normal person, not a psychologist yada yada. I'm a mother of one. Rebecca is my child's name and she's eleven. I'm chinese, and I went to university at Queen's in Canada. Married for five years and at the age of 28. I play piano, read and type up work for a charity thing.
I work through 8am till 12pm (lunch) then 12 till 7. Sorry about my mistakes in grammar. (I still can not believe I spelt Psychologist wrong. I'm stupid!) I'm not that good typing. I only typed the charity because I help charity sometimes. I had a bad habbit in grammar because typing on the computer my shift doesn't work, so I have to use caps lock whenever there is a capita. Don't mind if i don't use capitals. If you want some more info about me just spill. Thanks for giving me another chance. I agree I was on the wrong fott the time i started. I'll restart and I won't be that, well "telling".

So glad you decided to stay!
That's nice that you do charity work...which charity, if you don't mind my asking?
I LOVE the piano...always wanted to learn how to play! I'm hoping ds will take lessons, but I'm not sure at what age we should start.
Anyway, I'm glad you're giving us another chance, too! :)

Hey Valerie,
I don't except that kind of talk from my students and won't except it from you. Don't be so hard on yourself. You made a mistake. I made a mistake in judging you based on your previous posts. Hope you'll forgive me. Glad you decided to stay.
