I use the internet a lot for recipes, but still love my Fannie Farmer, Joy of Cooking, and original Silver Palate cook books. I also love Bon Appetit magazine.

Ds's preschool cookbook with favorite recipes submitted by parents. I have another one along the same lines from my nephew's elemenatry school and I love that one, too. There's also the old stand by Betty Crocker. :)
I have a cookbook called Pine to Prairie that I use frequently. I also have a cookbook that is filled with family recipes from Dh's side that I use quite a bit. I have another recipe book from a local nursing home that I like. I probably have 20 cookbooks and I use most of them to some extent.

I love cookbooks!!!!!
Friends in the Kitchen (it's by a local woman and she makes all these aside comments about people I know..it's a hoot)
Stop and Smell the Rosemary (very gourmet by the Junior League of Houston)
Southern Living
Good Housekeeping
Out of the Nest (a friend of my parents in California did this..it's a real basic one..great starter book)

I love cookbooks too and have more than I need!! My most used in red and white checkerboard Better Homes and Gardens. I have lots of Pampered Chef books. I keep a book of family recipes and use the net, mostly allrecipes.com . AnnW turned me on to that site years ago!!
Angie, I like the Pampered Chef books too, except I have a tendancy to go brain dead when I use them. The directions will say "take the 8 quart batter bowl....." and I think "I DON'T HAVE THE 8 QUART BATTER BOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!" and then realize..uh duh Ann, you can just use a regular bowl!!! LOL
Glad you like that site..it's great!
my very first cookbook, even before I was married or out of my parents house....was Better Homes and Gardens Complete step-by-step Cookbook...shows you every technique and how to substitute....easy stuff from how to boil and egg to how to make frosting from scratch....
I too love cookbooks, but mostly cook from memory or recipe cards in my recipe box....old ones and some new.....
wow 8o allrecipes.com is so cool thanks....:)

You'd think from the number of cookbooks I h ave that I actually cook a lot. :D
The one that I am finding the best recipes in is from Habitat for Humanity:

ROFLOAM! ;) Thanks for the laugh!
I have a few papmered Chef ones too and like them. My grandma has send me a few that the school (K-12) in her small town puts out and they have some great recipes. My favorite though has to be Taste of Home's Quick Cooking magazine. I get it every other month and I LOVE IT! I also get the Light one as weel, but don't like it quite as much.

I love my Betty Crocker cookbook, but I mostly use allrecipes.com now. I've started a recipe box with cards as opposed to a fill-in cook book. Better counterspace wise! I use a place card holder to hold the 3x5 recipe card and it's nice and portable and doesn't use up my counter space!!
Also like The Lady and Sons Savannah cookbook!

Well I have a few favorites....I like my Company's Coming Appy's and Cookies. I also really like Better Homes and Gardens..
I have one pampered chef book and really like the Chicken Brocoloi Braid in it.
I have never been into allrecipes.com so I am going to check it out.
I also just got company's coming slow cooker book, some great recipes in there too.

I also like the Better Homes and Gardens - for me, it's like cooking for dummies! I have to read it when I hard boil eggs!!! lol

I have a tattered copy of the Betty Crocker cookbook, too!
I use one called Stir Ups written by the Junior Welfare League in Enid, OK that I got as a wedding gift that I love. I've given it as a wedding gift, too.
I use joy of cooking the most. Not for the recipes, but for the conversion factors. Use allrecipes because of their rating system. Most of the time I just search for what I want to make and see what the search engine finds.

I have a few cookbooks...but rarely use them! (I'm not a "cookbook person". I know people who can just pour over cookbooks for HOURS...and that's just not me!). I have a recipe "file" where I keep favorites...and I'm a pretty boring cook. I mainly stick with my tried and true recipes. This site does inspire me, though!
Jen, I love Taste of Home Cooking Magazine. I subscribed for 2 years. Another favorite is Better Homes New Dieters Cookbook. It has lots of great recipes that are less fattening than the originals. One precious cookbook is one put out by our PTO with illustrations by our students. I have 2 dozen or more cookbooks. I love them.
