For a long time I used this recipe for wild rice:
Cook wild rice:
1 cup wild rice
4 cups water
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer 45-60 minutes. If necessary, drain excess water.
Add:
1/4 cup butter
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 cup sauteed onions and mushrooms

Then I found this one, which is probably not as healthy, but is sure good:
1/2 cup wild rice
4 slices bacon
1 small onion, sliced thin
2 cups thinly sliced red cabbage
2 tsp red-wine vinegar
Cook wild rice (as above - adjust amounts as needed).
While rice is cooking, cook bacon in a skillet and transfer to paper towels to drain. Leave 1 tablespoon drippings in the pan. Heat drippings in skillet over moderately high heat until hot but not smoking, and saute onion and cabbage, until softened. Add vinegar and salt and pepper to taste and saute, stirring, 1 minute. Chop bacon. Just before serving, stir cabbage mixture and bacon into wild rice.
