Didn't see the show, but the advice sounds pretty good...logical consequences is a great learning tool.

Read the ABC News one so far and I totally agree with that approach--for our ds and the type of person he is, anyway. The suggestions are similar to the suggestions in "Raising Your Spirited Child", which focuses on avoiding triggers to tantrums, choosing your battles and allowing your child to make choices that aren't life-threatening to learn from natural consequences, etc.

It does truly work for us. The only problem I have seen (in the past, not now) came when others interacted with him differently than dh and me. But as he matures, that's less of a problem. I'm actually surprised my mother was impressed with the show and the suggestions as she's usually telling me to "put my foot down", "MAKE him listen", "just tell him NO!", etc. You just have to find what works well for you and your child and this does for us.
