I would like to make a series of compact discs with my new CD burner that can be played at parties. They don't have to be "danceable," but I would like them to be festive. Just about any music genre is ok including 50's, 60's, Disco, 70's, 80's, and some hard rock. The only areas of music that I would shy away from are Country and Hip Hop. I actually like some country, but most of it isn't party music. I have a Kenny Rogers Sing-a-long listed, but I can't see much making my top list. Anyway, here is what I have so far:

"I Saw Her Standing There"- The Beatles
"Come On Eileeen"- Dexy's Midnight Runners
"Get Down Tonight"- KC and the Sunshine Band
"Dance the Night Away"- Van Halen
"You Shook Me All Night Long"- AC/DC
"Great Balls of Fire"- Jerry Lee Lewis
"Jailhouse Rock"- Elvis Presley
"All Shook Up"- Elvis Presley
"Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' on"- Jerry Lee Lewis
"Double Shot of My Baby's Love"- The Swinging Medallions
"Keep on Rolling"- REO Speedwagon
"Honkey Tonk Women"- The Rolling Stones
"Volcano"- Jimmy Buffet
"Margaritaville"- Jimmy Buffet
"Piano Man"- Billy Joel
"Hurt So Good"- John Mellencamp
"Staying Alive"- The Bee Gees
"Shout"- Otis Day and the Nights
"Walk This Way"- Aerosmith
"The Gambler"- Kenny Rogers
"Runaround Sue"- Dion
"Loveshack"- The B52's
"Copacabana"- Barry Mannilow
"Time Warp"- Rocky Horror
"Summer Nights"- Grease
"You're The One that I want"- Grease
"Blister in the Sun"- The Violent Femmes

Sure did. Was picturing them on stage as I was writing the response. I just couldn't remember their name. Any idea whatever happened to them?

Copa is on my list Renee!

I had added the following during the day, some of which you have mentioned. Keep them coming though! I dont' have time to go through the whole list, but love some of the song suggestions. My very first favorite single was S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y night by the Bay City Rollers.

When and if I get proficient at this I'll be happy to make copies, but I don't know if I'll be hip to customizing it. It would be alot easier to just make duplicates of whatever I make rather then making a bunch of individual c.d.'s I still have a cd rom drive in the PC with the CD Burner drive, so I'm hoping I can just put a cd in the top and burn it to a new disc at the same time.:

"Brown-Eyed Girl" Van Morrison
"Paradise By the Dashboard Light" Meatloaf
"Build Me Up Buttercup" The Foundations
"Old Time Rock 'n Roll" Bob Seeger
"Trying to Live My Life without You" Bob Seeger
"End of the World" REM
"Jump, Jive, and Wail" Brian Stetzer Orchestra
"Rock and Roll All Night" Kiss
"I Want You to Want Me"- Cheap Trick

I assume they have disbanded. I tried doing a search on them a few years ago w/o success. One of the dilemnas is that there really is a disease called "Oliver Syndrome." When you do a search you get lots of medical stuff.

I found some tour dates in the 90's, but that was all I could find. They did some great covers. I particulary liked their cover of Manfred Mann's "Blinded by the Light." I also liked their song "The Night I'll Never forget is the one I can't remember." LOL... more nostalgia!

Rich Hardesty was coming on the scene right as Addison Ellis was leaving. Rich still performs and me and my college friends try to catch him once a year at Homecoming. His website is www.richhardesty.com and he still plays some gigs in Indy at the Patio.

What? No Rod Stewart??? He had a song at one time that didn't get real high on the charts I don't believe. I think it was called "Having a party" I know it said something about a Dj playing a song and being up on the roof or something. I think it came out in 1994. I LOVED that song, at the time.

What about:
Mony Mony
Aerosmith--Ugh! can't remember the name of the song but RunDMC remade it and Aero's became even more popular. It was great cruising music!!

Rock the Casbash (sp?) by the Clash
Legs by ZZ top
You give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi
Beds are burning by Midnight Oil
Keep your hands to yourself by Georgia Satellites
Def Leppard--Ugh! can't think of the name of the song now!!
Another one bites the Dust by Queen
