Have you noticed any side effects with the neuroton? I just increased my dose by 100 mg and I am itchy all over..no hives or anything just itchy.
No Ann, nothing like that. Only side effect has been/is sleepiness. Have you called the doctor? I assume you are thinking possible allergic reaction. Has it been beneficial?
Since there are no hives, and it's been going on for a few days, I am not really worried about an allergic reaction, but more of it being an adverse or side effect. Haven't called the doc yet. I was going to wait and see what happens this week when I increase it again. It does seem to be working, if it gets horrible, I can go down to the beginnng dosage where it didn't itch and took most of the symptoms away.
How are you doing? Is there any recourse for you? Do you just have to live with the pain?
The problem is not "serious" enough to warrent surgery. If it got to the point of rupturing then I think there are cortizone shots you could get, and of course surgery. Not really sure since I'm not at that point.
So I live with it. Actually though now that I've been on the meds for some time, the pain really is more managable. I do have to take them regularly and really watch that I alternate activities where I can stand, sit, and actually lie down periodically throughout the day. I really miss not being able to curl up in a comfy chair to read and being able to sleep on my right side. Like this morning - no school and I longed to roll over and spread out after dh got up and just sleep in. But because the meds had worn off I couldn't. I did get up and take morning meds and once they kicked in was able to doze a little, but it's just not the same.
This injury has certainly made me realize that you can't take little things for granted. Glad they are working for you. Hope the itchiness goes away. I'd tell you to take some benedryl, but I took a couple last week after school one day and they along with the neuronton really made me sleepy. I wanted to watch the show about past superbowl commercials and I kept falling asleep. Finally gave up and had to go to bed.
I am not a big meds person, so even taking this stuff is a step for me, so I would hate to mix it with benadryl. I am not having the sleepiness problem like I was at the beginning, but I am sleeping more soundly at night so that's a plus.
I am glad to hear that the meds are helping a little.
