I'm FINALLY in Alaska!!!

HI guys! What a surprise with the change of the board! Anyway we finally made it to Alaska and it is just beautiful here, we will be moving into a house on base a few days before Easter so I don't have access to ao computer until then. Hope everyone is doing great!

Oh I am soooo jealous! We tried for Alaska and nearly got it when I was in a base closure. As a base closure only the overseas selections came first. We got our assignments before those leaving stateside assignments got theirs. Unfortunately congress didn't sign off in the closure in time and they gave my spot away! Instead they offered me Travis (San Fransisco) and Dover, Delaware. I had asked for all bases in the north. The assignment's person made a comment about how *close* they came to giving me my choices (Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota). Appearently she failed geography!
Which base are you at? We were slated for the one in southern Alaska (Eilson?). Can't remember the name off hand. Just think we could have been neighbors! If I had gotten it I would have stayed in to retirement.
