View Full Version : Tuesday am
Well, morning. Still trying to figure this out. Painters come today and start tearing down wall paper, floating walls, taking off the baseboards and putting up the crown molding. Got up and out of the shower at 6:30 but had a complete brain fart and just stood in my closet till about 7 trying to figure out what to wear today!! LOL (have a meeting, chores, then bunko tonite..wanted to dress once, plus its cool now but supposed to be 78 and 98% humidity later!) Love those shallow jr high moments!!! LOL
Have a good one.

Ann- Loved your story about trying to figure out what to wear!!! LOL!! :) I bet you're anxious/excited for your remodeling to be done!! We have lots that I want to do here, but think we will wait until spring. I go thru spurts of getting lots done and then I get in a big rut. Must be winter blahs??? :)

Have a great day with all your running around!
BTW....-38C here with the wind chill....so it doesn't really matter what basic clothes we put on.....it will all be covered with a hat/scarf/parka and boots! LOL
:)
Does my icon looked confused enough? This is the first time I've posted using the new format...sure hope I get it right, LOL.
I'm with Darlenek,please explain bunko...sounds intriguing.

Hi everyone!! Ann-sounds like a fun day!! I am making sugar cookies and cleaning house. Great, huh? Try to hang in there and not lose your mind w/the remodeling. Are you enlarging rooms or just redecorating the ones you have?
Have a good day!!
Bunko is a mindless dice game..here is some info from a site I found....
OFFICIAL BUNKO RULES
Overview
Bunko is a dice game. It is a social game played with multiples of 4 people. Most commonly, it is played with 12 people. The game is played in rounds. Although the game is associated with crowds of women drinking heavily and gossiping, this is NOT required.
Setup
Required:
at least 8 players, in multiples of 4. 12 players are recommended.
1 table per 4 people
3 die per table
1 score sheet per person
Optional
prizes (explained below)
a handbell (FUN)
hole punches for scoring
Scoring Basics
Play is accomplished using all three die. All three are rolled at the same time.
Points are accumulated by rolling 6s. Each 6 rolled is worth a single point.
The player rolls as long as she keeps getting 6s.
If you roll all 1s, it is called a "wipeout". Your team (described below) lose all their points if you roll a wipeout. (Note: this is also called "snake eyes", which is technically incorrect since snakes normally only have 2 eyes)
If you roll all 6s, it is called a "Bunko". You get the 3 points for the three 6s. However, all players scramble to pick up a die after a Bunko. Each die collected is also worth a point. Therefore, if the same team who rolls a Bunko also gets all 3 dice, they get 6 points (3 + 3). The opposing team, if they pick up all 3 dice can also get 3 points. The point possibility for each team is therefore 6/0, 5/1, 4/2, 3/3.
Basic Play
This description assumes 12 players. Therefore there are 3 tables.
The players sit at the table, with opposing players forming teams. That is, there are 2 teams at each table, with partners sitting across from each other. Each player rolls a die to see who goes first. Play then rotates from player to player clockwise after a player does not roll a 6 (as described above).
The tables are "ranked". There is a head table, a bottom table, and a middle table. When your team wins a game, it advances to the next higher table, leaving the losers to stay at the same table. At the head table, the winners remain and the losers go to the bottom table.
You change partners after each round, except at the head table. The winning team remains partners. At the other tables, the losers who remain behind decide who will change seats. When the advancing team sit down, they are then no longer partnered (except at the head table). If this seems confusing, try it once for yourself.
The head table plays until the winning team scores 21 points. When this happens, the head table calls "stop" and play stops at all tables. If there is a tie at a table when play is stopped, play continues normally until the tie is broken.
Note that scoring is separate at each table. Winning scores at the non-head tables could be 15 or 50, depending on the rolling. However, a winning score is the higher score and will always be 21 at the head table.
At this point, play in this round is complete. Winners mark their wins on their scoring sheets, and losers mark their losses.
At the end of the game time, the overall winner is decided by the number of wins and the overall loser is determined by the number of losses. Ties are broken by dice roll.
Finer Points
Much of the fun in Bunko comes from the finer points of play. Here are some subtleties, but feel free to invent your own.
Prizes
Prizes form much of the fun in Bunko. Here are the prizes used in my wife's Bunko circle:
Most wins
Most losses
Most Bunkos
Most Wipeouts
Travelling Bunko: This prize goes to the last person to roll a Bunko during game play. In practise, when you roll a Bunko, you immediately go and take prize from the person currently holding it. The next person who gets a Bunko takes it from you. The activity of getting up and down makes the action much more fun.
Travelling Wipeout: like the Travelling Bunko
Consolation Prize: anyone who doesn't hold a prize rolls to see who gets a prize.
You will note that there are 7 prizes for 12 people, giving pretty good odds. In practise, no one gets 2 prizes. For example, if you have both the most wins and most Bunkos, you can keep one but the other goes to the runner-up.

I can't believe your weather... wow, 78 degrees! It's only about 15 here today... PLEASE send some of that warm weather this way! It sounds like you're going to have a busy day... I'd LOVE to redo a few of the rooms in my house too but trying to convince dh isn't always that easy. Why is it that their always so satisfied with the way things are? He'll hardly agree to change anything unless it's practically falling off the wall. LOL Hope your project turns out well Ann...
Hey all..we are basically doing cosmetic stuff now. We are just doing the entry, dining room and study. We are putting in new porcelin tile in the entry..it's really pretty, looks like slate..it's kind of a dark greenish blue with alot of veining. We are also painting. We picked out a textured beige carpet for the dining and study. Eventually, we are going to be knocking out walls and moving appliances when we do the kitchen..dh says next year..I say September!! LOL
We are just at that stage where it is maintenance...it's been 10 years since these rooms were painted (minimum) and or furniture is about 15+ years old and showing wear and tear. But it is fun! LOL
grrrr...I had to go through 4 posts to see Diane's new one since I read even those I clicked on see most recent (or whatever it's called)
Annw-what an odd little game you play with your friends. It must be a socialite thing. LOL
Speaking of socialite things-Does anyone watch the Travel Channel? They had a show on about The Hamptons (NY)and the three social tiers that go there on the weekends. The lowest is the blue collar, second-the upper middle class (yuppies)and the third-the socialites. There was this one chick whose father makes parts for cash registers and she is an "heiress". I couldn't believe there were people out there that actually act the way she did. She was one haughty son of a gun. She was only 25 and ran her "servants" well, like they were her SERVANTS! LOL Her whole lifestyle cracked me up because it was revolved around shoes, polo, dinner parties, her "florist", jewerly and anything else shallow.
Does anyone really know anyone else like this in real life??

No, I don't know anyone like that in RL! Thank goodness! LOL!! It seems like it would be an "empty" life, but maybe it's all just what we are used to or what we hold as important?? It would have been interesting to see the show.

LMAO Karla..at first I thought your "empty life" comment was in reply to Anns bunko game! (snort!)
Then I actually read instead of skimmed.
btw..I play just started playing bunko and I love it! :D
(and I am the farthest thing from a socialite! I say as I sit here in my old jeans and Old Navy sweatshirt!) ;)
Amy...what's so odd about it? LOL Not really any different than alot of silly group games (spoons, dominoes, pictionary)

I love all those games! We play pictionary and taboo, euchre and this new game called pitch.
I have had a crap of a day. To the doctor first thing, dd has double ear infection to top off her 2 weeks of sickness. I went to the "government center" to file for my property tax exemptions. Taxes, gag. Then I took the kids to McDonald's Playplace and had to look at Big Macs and not eat them. ROFLMBO Now my MIL has decided on a visit to bring valentines tonight and I hadn't planned on cleaning the house. Can't she wait until Valentine's Day? LOL
Better at least get the dishes out of the sink. Speaking of "servants," I wish I had one today!!!
We've had a great Tuesday. SIL had her baby today, Emma Elizabeth; 8lb3oz. Now they have two dd's. I just love new babies!!! I'm going to make some dinner for them and put it in their freezer.
Sorry chicky poo. I didn't mean to put down your game. You can't take what I say to heart right now because Im trying to attack a 102 degree temp and haven't slept peacefully in 3 nights. Plus poor ds has post nasal drip and is hacking his head off.
Your game sounds fun. Mental note to myself-get a social life one day. ROFL!
No problem sweetie, between this damn board change and construction going on around here, I am at my limit..that is why I am looking forward to a mindless evening without dh or kiddos! LOL
Sorry to hear that you are feeling so poorly..hope you are on the mend soon.
