I'm sooooooo excited! A friend and I have decided we're going to go on a Moms-only vacation to Cancun!!!!! No kids, no responsibilites, nothing but sleeping late, SCUBA diving and laying on the beach while cute little towel boys rub lotion on our backs. Okay, that last part may be stretching it a bit!!
But, we are going to a tropical destination and that means... I HAVE TO WEAR A BATHING SUIT IN PUBLIC 8o!!!!
Oh no!!! So, now I really have motivation to stick to my exercise and healthy eating! And I've been doing pretty darn good! Especially considering it's the weekend! I worked out like a dog yesterday to keep from thinking about snacking on junk food! And I just finished cutting up tons of fruits and veggies to take to work this week!
I think we're shooting for May, so that gives me roughly 3 months to at least get some of the flab off! I'm not expecting to look like a model, but I hope to at least get down a few sizes! It's do-able! I'm so excited by the thought of having some me time! It's been a long time since I've even gone out on the weekend with friends... I have no social life, so I'm going to enjoy this trip to the fullest! Of course I'll miss dd terribly, but we've decided to go to an adults-only resort so we don't feel guilty seeing families and kids having fun together! My friend is in the same boat as me, single mom, she has 2 kids. And like me, she rarely gets any time to herself, so, more power to us!!!!!! :D
Gotta go, have some exercising to do!! You all need to keep reminding me of the bathing suit thing! I'm going to try and find a picture of an overweight person to put on the fridge and cabinets to keep me from wanting to snack!!! :biglaugh: I guess I should put a picture of myself in a bathing suit up, but I'm not about to let anyone take a pic of me now, let alone take the film to be developed!!
Send support, please!!!!!!
Sounds wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can do it! but I will tell you, you will be STUNNED by all the people down there who are wearing little bitty bathings suits who SHOULDN'T be wearing itty bitty bathing suits!! LOL Think of it this way..you don't know anyone there! LOL
Where are ya'll staying?

Ooooooooh, AmyD--It sounds wonderful. I hope you have a great time. Even the planning stages of a getaway are fun, especially if you never get one. You can do the 'getting in shape thing'. You're right--what great motivation!!
Umm-can I come?? :tinysmile :tinysmile

ROFL, Ann! You are sooooooo right!!!! I'll try to get a chair next to one of those people wearing an itty bitty bathing suit that shouldn't! Then I REALLY feel good about myself! We're still in the planning stages, but a guy my friend works with just got back, he stayed at Blue Bay Village. Said he loved it and would definitely go back. The rates are unbelievable!!!
Thanks, Cathy! I appreciate the support, and yes, you can go, too!! The more the merrier!!!!!
I know, let's have an IB reunion in Cancun!!!!!! 8o Wouldn't that be awesome!!
I'll come!! It's really cheap for me! LOL

Oh... lucky you!!! It sounds like your in store for a wonderful time, and you're right... talk about motivation! LOL That would do it for me too. In my case I'm loosing for my dd's wedding and also... two weeks after the wedding dh and I will be going to my 30th 8o class reunion. 8o
The last time I was on a diet I taped a FAT picture of myself up on the refridgerator, so every time I was tempted to open it up to eat something... it would remind me of how I DIDN'T want to look. LOL I also had a skinny picture of myself... which was a good reminder of how I use to look and how I COULD look again. I wasn't wearing a swimsuit... but what I had worked well. :) Good luck... I just KNOW you'll do it!

Amy, that's amazing...and definately a motivater!
You guys are going to have a great time :)
Great suggestion Ann 8)
That is soo cool!! Part of me would really love that. They other part would freak me out that I would be so far away from my kids. Im horrible at being a worry wart!
I think dh will have the month of July off (fingers crossed) and we were thinking of going to Club Med in Ixtapa, Mexico. Its a family club med, so they have day camps for the kids while I sit poolside! That is my compromise for a child-free vacation. LOL

Amy - have a good time!
Amy, I have heard great things about that Club Med. You do know that it's REALLY HOT in Mexico in July, don't you?? the breezes should help!
Want us to come too???? :)

Shoot! I haven't done a ton of reseach on the location, but isn't the city on the ocean? I definitely don't want to go from the hot pot to the frying pan (did I say that right? LOL). Family Club Med only has two places-Ixtapa and Turks/Caicos.
So tell me a better place that has something to do for the kids and its on the ocean!!
Out of the frying pan into the fire sheesh girl, get it right! LOL
If it is right on the beach the breezes should be good, especially considering it's hurricane season! ;) check the temperature averages...just wanted you to know it would probably be in the 90's.

How exciting for all of you planning get aways!! :yippee:
AmyD- Enjoy your time away! You deserve it and I bet you'll have a wonderful time! Lucky you!! :)
ROFL! Amy/Co...I just went to the Club Med site and looked at the Ixtapa place...they don't even give the weather for the summer months on their list!!!!!! LOL Is it open in July???
I forgot it's on the Pacific, it should be ok, but it will be warm.

Im sure they can't afford to close down and restaff to open again. The more I think of it, the more I don't want to suffer in the heat. Pueblo is plenty hot enough in July!
Tell me someplace fun that is in the West? Since this will be the last time I will ever be in the West, I want to take advantage of someplace close. maybe I'll look into Lake Victoria again or San Diego or Cabo San Lucas.
San Diego!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cabo is on the pacific coast too, so it's gonna be similar to Mexico. It's also expensive.Do a search and see what the weather is.
But we had a blast with our kids in San Diego!

Thanks for all the support! I really appreciate it! And Ann, of course you can come! Anyone can come! Like I said, we can have an IB reunion (well actually, since we all haven't met, it would be a union :biglaugh: )!!!! Then, we can continue it every year in a different place!!!!! I'll let you know the place as soon as we decide!!
Amy/CO, I know what you mean about going away w/o your kids. It's going to be really hard for me to leave dd, but she's so young, I figure I'll wait til she's a bit older to take her on vacation. I really need some time to rest and relax, and my mom will be keeping dd, so there are no worries there!!!
As for your vacation, what about a cruise? Something like the Disney Cruise that has activities for kids so the adults can have some time alone. Going to do that when dd is older. Can't wait!!! She'll be thrilled! She's so young now, though, that she wouldn't want me to leave her!

You don't have to justify this trip at all!!!!!!!!!!! Taking care of yourself is just as, if not more important as taking care of your dd!!!!

You are soooo right! And I know it, but I still have those pangs of guilt!! The first time I'll be away from dd for more than a night!!!! But, she'll be THRILLED staying with Nanna for a whole week! And my dad and brother will help out, too, so she definitely won't be lacking for attention!!!!!!!
Thanks for the encouragement!!!! ;)
