PRESIDENT that is!!! LOL
I am the new incoming president for our Neighborhood Women's club.
I took a couple of years off and have not done much (except post here! LOL) so now I am ready to get back on the volunteer bandwagon. I am also going to have a PTA position next year at the elementary school.
I am excited. I am glad I took the couple of years off, but now I am ready to saddle up! LOL

What are ya'lls volunteer projects for the upcoming year/now?

Congrats to you! What does this group do?

I am on the executive of our Home and School Assoc (same as PTA/PTO), I work in the library at school once a week, and volunteer at school when needed whenever I can fit it around work. I also head up one of our big fundraisers every year, "Santa's Gift Mart". Last year I taught Catechism but really didn't enjoy it at all, but if they were stuck I would do it again.

Our women's club does several things. We have a book club, veggie co-op, games and grubs, Halloween parade, monthly meetings.

I am a member of the School Council, I run the pizza days, and I am sitting on the committee for the Annual BBQ.

Congratulations!

Right now I only do the Composer of the Month bulletin board for ds's music teacher. Which is kind of funny since I'm so musically dysfunctional, but I can research! I'm considering volunteering to help with the book fair! My school and this 4 year old keep me from doing more.

I got mine to work out in the other day and really felt guilty that I hadn't had my picture taken, but then I thought 'do I REALLY care if these tatoo parlor people are mad at me???' and I quit feeling guilty!!!:D

I used to volunteer a lot more than I do now, but with daycare kids, it's hard. I do quite a bit for the school- I do a lot of at home work for ds's teacher, I am the Box Tops Coordinator and Campbell's Labels for Education Coordinator (which I actaully do alone) and I do stuff for the PTA when I can (book fairs, santa shop, selling popcorn and lollipops).

I also am the Brownie bridging mom, even thought my dd doesn't bridge until next year, and I'm the phone mom (the leader calls me with info and I call all the parents in the troop to pass on the info).

Now AnnW, this doesn't mean you can slack in your posting!!!

I volunteer at my ds's school at least once a week, Market Day, I am on my MOPS steering team. I used to do lots more but I am taking it easy for now!

We are an awesome group of women!!!!!!

I think it's important to take a break occassionally or else you will get really burnt out. As your kids get older and more in school, you will find out how much they want you to do and you do need to have the ability to say no.

Congratulations Ann - you are a go-getter so they will benefit from your time.

I am a Daisy troop leader
I work in dd's classroom one day a week
and I have the Kinder/1st Grade Sunday School class

I'm on the school board. I will volunteer at times to drive for field trips. I think I'm on the list to be on PAC--Parish Activities Committee at church, when my school board run is up next year. I'm also a member of Altar Society (never attend meetings) and often am called to bake cakes, desserts or something for some function. I've told them I'm happy to do things like that rather than going to the function and working.

I don't have near the time to volunteer since I started working, but I am still the treasurer for our Dance club, a member of our Parent Council at school and am the "soup lady" for Campbell's Soup labels that are collected for our school.

Well, it's not volunteering, but I'm at my kids' school 40 hours a week;) ..... can't call me uninvolved in their education. Not counting the 15 hours/week I spend in my son's classroom...cough cough....;) . I do find time to volunteer at our school/church with Market Day, and for Scrip distribution. Once a month on Sundays I'm a greeter for our fellowship/donut mornings. Because of a conflict of interest (and no time!) I am not involved in the Home and School Association (PTA) except as a regular old parent...and the same with our School Board. Every now and then I have to attend those meetings as a faculty representative, but otherwise I prefer to let other people attend.

Congrats Ann!!! :)

I have not done much with dks still being little and at home 99% of the time. I help out with ds's preschool class if they need something (like making dough ornaments for the holiday party or going on field trips). I have also helped out with the American Cancer Society. Every year they need someone to take a section of a neighborhood to ask for donations. We usually do that as a family. When dks are older I can't wait to do more ~ I think about it often.

I used to be the presiden tof DS#2's preschool, but we have recently closed it.

Every once in awhile I go into DS#1's class and help out, just this last Friday I went and helped tie skates for their skating afternoon.

Next year DS#2 will be in kindergarten so both boys will be in the same school, I am hoping that I can do some more work in the school then.

Congrats!:D Hope you enjoy yourself.

Sounds like we have lots of busy bees here.

I'm more of the worker-bee type than a leader. I usually volunteer to help with any project ds's school does. I can't really help out in his class because of my two little ones at home. I also teach kindergarten Sunday school, which I really love. :)

I was never able to do a lot of volunteer work in my children's classrooms... and I've always felt guilty about that but when you have the kind of job I have... taking a lot of day's off in order to volunteer wasn't always an easy thing to be able to do. I did what I could, but somehow it never seemed like enough.

I did attend PTA meetings... but never got too involved. I was the coordinatior of our Day Care Associaiton, but after doing that for two years I decided to let someone else have the opportunity to be/get too busy with it. LOL I don't like to be overly busy... and I cherish every minute I can get to spend time with my own kids/dh... as well as having a little bit of time for myself. I probably sound very selfish but after listening to and taking care of lots of kids all day, I'm just too tired to think about wanting to do anything else. :(

Diane...

Sheryl...The Leader doesn't have to work as hard, she delegates everything to the worker bees!!!! That's why I always sign up! LOL

Diane, I think you are exempt! Just driving kids back and forth to get them to their extra cirriculars is doing "your time"!!

After we moved here I tried to get involved with the PTA but it was run by a very tight clique of ladies that did all the planning. They loved volunteers for the grunt work though. .

We have a group like that in DS's class..they are now running the middle school! I did classroom work when they were running the elementary school, and do orchestra stuff at the middle school (there kids are too cool to be in the orchestra!LOL)
This year's PTA pres at the elem school is a good friend so I emailed her and volunteered.

I have wanted to do that too (especially with the kindergarteners). But the lady I meantioned above still is in control there and half of the ladies that ruled with her have gone on to the middle and high schools. We are probably going to be moving this summer anyway so hopefully I can get involved there.

Isn't it just amazing that THEY are the grownups!!!! LOL
If that other group had still been here, I probably wouldn't have needed to call my friend cause she wouldn't have been the President for next year! LOL
