Only 13 to go! :)
I did actually get in the gym today and walked a mile, ran a mile, and then walked another mile. I also talked to a friend of mine who lives in Chicago and he is going to register for the Mini this year. So... I just signed up!
I've only got two months which is a bad thing, but since I'm carrying 30 less pounds this year... that is a good thing!
I haven't worked out the figures in my mind yet, but I'll have to me running 5 miles by mid March and I'll just start doing some longer runs on the weekend. I can do it by telling myself the same lie I use every year..."Just one more mile...
;)

Glad to hear you are going to train for it. I just finished signing up today. We are going out on Sat. for a 10 miler. If you have any interest in freezing at 6:30am let me know.

Not just yet... :)
I ran for two miles today and walked for a mile. I'll keep increasing a mile per workout which should put me at 5 in a couple of weeks. I would love to do a 10-miler with you in early April if you are game. I must warn you that I'll probably be running about a 10 minute mile which may be too slow, but it would be fun anyway!
Hey, where did you get the bladder that you wear while running to feed you water? I've always wanted to get one but haven't really shopped them around.

I did four miles today... moving right on schedule!
I did the first two miles at 6.0 mph, the next 1.5 at 6.7 mph and the last .5 at 7.0 mph. I was pretty drenched, but I'm getting there! My next run will be five miles and I'll probably not exceed that amount during the week and do long runs on the weekend. I will really try and start working on continually increasing my speed for the five miles. Really I am looking at running for 50 minutes, so I'll do slightly more then 5 miles depending on how fast I can go!
I think I can... chug chug puff puff! ... I think I can...
:cool:
Great Job!!
That comes out just under a 9:30 pace. That is great.

I did five miles today... I think!
The treadmill at my new gym kept stopping on me.:{
And the thing is... I try not to constantly look at the time b/c it makes it go by so much slower. I finally got cranked off enough to go get my wrist stopwatch and just used it. When the treadmill stopped I didn't have to lose my place. I did eventually find on that didn't stop and was on it for a good thirty minute of the time.
I felt really good today. My knee (knock on formica!) has never felt better.
The next test will be the long runs outdoors. I hope I get some decent weather. My body likes the colder temps, but my asthma can give me fits in the cold weather.
