Hi,
My dd was diagnosed last Friday with clinical pnemonia and they put her on Zithromax. Well last night she was up most of the night in tears because her ears were hurting her. I took her to the Dr. today and sure enough both ears are infected and her pnemonia doesn't seem to be getting better. They gave her a breathing treatment and put her on another antibiotic. Anyone else have a child that had pnemonia? This is a first for us and I've heard all these terrible stories about it - so now I'm all worried and don't even want to sleep tonight.
She really doesn't seem too bad - they told me to just keep an eye on her breathing and bring her back in on Friday.
Ok, just needed to vent about it - please keep her in your prayers - Thanks!!! :)

Bless your hearts! My dks have never had it, but dh has (since he acts like a baby when sick, that should count, right? ;) ) Joking aside, I hope she is feeling better soon. Sorry I'm not any help. Hang in there!!

I'm not a huge fan of Zithromax. I guess I never see improvement when my kids are taking it....and we almost always end up back at the doctor's office. My dks have never had pneumonia (knock on wood)....but we've done breathing treatments for asthma. Sorry she's sick and hope she's feeling better soon.

Thanks so much!!!! She is still sleeping, and I was up all thru the night checking on her :)
Hope the new antibiotic starts kicking in.
This has not been our year for being healthy!! It seems as though the kids have gotten whatever is out there - hope this builds up our immune system for the next few years! :)

I have had walking pneumonia, clinical pneumonia, and bronchial pneumonia. I have no idea what the difference is between walking and clinical, although I think clinical is more advanced. I know at the time it was explained to me, LOL.

The bronchial was the worst for me. I had mutltiple chest xrays, 4 rounds of antibiotics, and breathing treatments. It was painful.

Hopefully your dd will respond to the medication soon and start to feel better. Is she coughing really badly? I have found zithromax to be a very slow antibiotic, but I know it is broad-based and frequently used to treat pneumonia. The fact that she is sleeping is great sign.

Hope you are all feeling better soon and spring finds you.

Hi Diane :)
My dd's appt. went well. The Dr. said that she is responding to the new antibiotic and she isn't weezing anymore. She does seem to feel much better!
Thanks so much for asking!!
It is just so scary when your little ones are sick! Sure makes you appreciate when they are well (and able to fight with their sibling) :)
