ROFL!!!! try putting if fresh lime/lemon or oranges slices. I also drink mine without ice and with a straw...seem to drink it down faster when it's not too cold and through a straw.
Good luck. I have put on about 15 lbs since I quit smoking last year and am miserable. I may join you on the slim fast thing.

The more water you drink the better Renee. I drink at least 10 glasses a day, probably more. I have since I was a teenager.

Probably a lot healthier to be carrying an extral 15lbs than smoking right?? How about dh, did he give it up too after everything he went through?

Are you still working out? Is that helping?

A friend and I joined Weight Watchers jan 26th. I have lost 11lbs. About 8 more to go. It's a great program, but sloooooooooow! lol!

Yea, yea, yea...Kathy ..way more healthy!!! LOL
I have been the same weight for over 10 years and this is just too wierd for me. Went to the slimfast site and it said that I was fine! Well, tell that to my flabby thighs.

I have fallen off the wagon with exercise. DH has really put on the weight too and needs to exercise but never really had to and doesn't really have the discipline. He's been sneaking smokes, but I know I should care but he was such a royal a## when he wasn't that I don't know if I could take him quitting.

I've never smoked so I can't blame my weight gain on quitting but I know that really have to get back into my exercising routine. While I use to walk 5 miles every day.... I am now lucky if I get one mile in a day. I'd rather walk outside than on my treadmill... and that's where my problem has been. That's another reason why I'm anxious for spring... I'm feeling it all in my stomach, and I HATE that fat feeling.

I've tried the slim fast diet and quite honestly... I can't STAND the taste of the stuff. Ugh!!! I thought it was AWFUL! I thought it was so funny because one day when we were at Sam's club and they were handing Slim fast out as a sample. The plastic garbage container was FULL of liquid Slim fast. LOL Evidently I wasn't the only one who didn't like it. I'm glad it works for you Renee... and I'm sure you'll look just great by the time you go see your dad. I'll be you're both very anxious to see each other again after not seeing each other for such of a long time. Good luck!!! :)

Boy, I can relate to that "last ten pounds" sheesh! I try to drink lots of water, and I've found that if I drink it out of a water bottle with a straw, it goes down MUCH easier.

I have never done Slim Fast, but I started making protein smoothies (with Spiruteen) for my kids in the morning. A banana, some frozen strawberries, a scoop of protein powder and OJ. I started drinking it myself, and found that I wasn't hungry for hours! I imagine it has most of the same vitimins and stuff as the Slim Fast. Tastes great too.

We just joined our neighborhood gym. Well, not just, a month or so ago. I've gone twice. In May they will be opening their day care, so I am hoping to be able to drop ds off at school, stop by the gym with dd for an hour, then get her home for her nap. I'd love to lose at least ten pounds before I have to put a bathing suit on this spring/summer.

What is spiruteen and where do you get it?
I like fruit smoothies and maybe I could add it to them. TIA

how much can you drink before you hate it...

I've found that the more you drink, the more you want to drink. Last summer I was drinking 10 glasses or more, then winter hit and I've been at the coffee pot.

Beth, I don't know where you live, but I get mine at Whole Foods. I'm sure most natural food stores have it, or some kind of protein powder. Try a couple different kinds to find the one you like. I just liked Spiruteen the best. Amy

I am really bad about drinking water, but I do agree that it it easier with a straw and not when it is really cold. My mom drinks a ton of water everyday and takes a bottle with her everywhere she goes. I wish I was like that. On my was out the door I grab a Mountain Dew!

Since we're all here already, and we're already supporting each other on other aspects of our lives, and Spring is coming, and we've all admitted we're bad... I even have a treadmill which is only a decorative ornament in my living room, lol! I could really use some help-- not that working in a bakery makes it any easier, lol! Any ideas on how we could make this work? Perhaps a "roll call" every day?

MK~I think a "check in" might be a really good idea.

Okay, I'll start. I have decided that each of us has one or two "problem" areas with our eating. One person may simiply eat too large proportions. Others may eat too much fatty food, drink too little water, whatever. For me, I do great all day. I have a sensible breakfast, lunch, and even dinner, and if I exercise I can drop the weight really easily, but I find that after the kids go to bed, that time between seven thirty and ten, I just want to eat cookies and chips and licorice and anything else I can get my little chubby fists on! Of course, I need to drink tons of milk to go along with it. I swear, I can eat from Survivor to the eleven o'clock news!

After New Years I went for a month with out any liquor of any kind, no junk food at all, and at night, I would make popcorn the old fashioned way with only brewers yeast on it.
I did this for over over a month, and lost five pounds and have kept it off so I am pretty sure it worked! I got sick, and so it all went to hell in a hand basket. Now, if I can only get back to it! Okay, so there I am. Help me Obi Wan Kanobi!

Water? Can't I just keep drinking my 2 liter of Diet Coke each day? LOL! Seriously, I'm with ya'll on the diet thing. I'm in the worst shape of my life and I don't like it. Since I got all the boxes unpacked and out of the bedroom I'm going to put the Norditrak in there. It works great for me. And, dh and I were just talking about what to do with his last bonus. I think finally joining the Y or Aquatic/Rec. center is a must. I could probably meet some ladies at an aerobics class too.

I am bad, very bad. I've had two cups of coffee, and two glazed donuts (they were still warm-- who can resist?). I had a few sips of water when I passed by the drinking fountain a couple times today. Now I have a bag of pistachios on my lap as I type this. So far that's all I've had to eat or drink today.

MK! Shame on you! I come to you for a check in, and you get my mouth watering thinking about glazed doughnuts! FRESH glazed doughnuts! Sweets are my downfall. Sigh...

I'm reading a book called "Let Them Eat Cake!" about our children's eating habits and how we think we are doing them a favor by being strict with food. I've just started it, but I intend to post a quesion about it, to find out what y'all think about your kids eating habits.

Well, at least some of it... I was good last night after I posted about eating fresh doughnuts and pistachios and coffee. I drank a quart of water before dinner (I actually have a habit of that),and we had stir-fried pork ribs, noodles, and vegetables. And I even drank a glass of milk. And I drank some more water before I went to bed.

I'm not saying anything about today. There is a sale going on at work, and it is very hard on me. That's all I'm going to say.

I'm eating nuts right now, and for dinner we are having corned beef brisket with potatoes and carrots and cruciferous vegetables (dh can't have cabbage). I have had three glasses of water so far today. I will have more before the day is out. I haven't pulled my treadmill off the wall yet. Operative word being "YET" (There is a future, and it is as bright as my legs, lol!)
