well, both of my dk's have decided that for thier birthdays, both in the summer, would like to have thier rooms painted....ds would like blue paint and some kind of trucks stenciled or somehow affixed....any one know if they make wall boarders or decals for boys trucks and stuff? DD would like pale lavendar, and daisies either stenciled or painted...well my wonderful SIL told me to wait till she gets home, she will help me, but where on earth am I going to find stencils for truck...dumptrucks, rollers, cementmixers...you know...the daisies are the easy part....LOL...thanks

Maybe if you call a paint store they will tell you where you can get stensils. Also, I think they are pretty simple to make, if you find a picture of what you want, you just trace it onto thick paper and cut it out. Just a thought. Amy

Oh, I'll bet you could find just about any stencil you'd want. Try a craft store like Michaels or Hobby Lobby, or even Lowes and Wal-Mart have stencils. I've had really good luck with Stencil Decor Dry Brush Stencil Paint. I got mine at Lowes, but I'm sure you could get it other places.

I don't know if you have a "Menards" by you but I've seen car/truck stencils there. Also... at our Target they have TONS of car/truck related items such as truck/car wallpaper boarders, matching step stools, toy box, and I think shelving... along with a few other things that I can't remember. LOL I don't think you'll have a very hard time finding things for your dd's bedroom. Sounds like a lot of fun! Again AnnW... see what you've started here? LOL More remodeling... :)

When we did ds' room we wanted the trucks etc, to be BIG so we borrowed an overhead projector from a friend. We used the Little Tykes (I think) coloring book and copied pictures of the farm, train, truck etc, onto transparencies then did a pencil transfer on the wall. You can get paint markers at Walmart (or any craft store) so we used those to color them. It was a blast. Of course I've always been a sucker for crayons and a coloring book. This was the same on a big scale. :0) Just another option.

What a good idea. When we move I think we may do one of ds's room in trucks. My sister does a lot of stenciling, so I will pass this idea onto her. :)

We just redid ds's room last summer. He is a big fan of Mighty Machines, trucks, cars, trains, etc.
Instead of a wallpaper boarder or painted stencils, we purchased removable wall stickers of different cars, trucks, road signs etc.. They were relativly inexpensive and if he tires of them in a couple years time we can just peel them off without having the hassle of repainting.
DD used to have Barbie one on her wall, but now that she is turning nine in another week she is "too cool" for dolls, so has taken them down and replaced them with "boy band' posters.

Ryleigh, do you know if they are easy to find? I love the idea that I can take them off without having to repaint when he tires of them....you know how fickle kids can be...

We purchased them at Wal-mart but have seen them in several other department stores as well. I know K-mart use to have them before they left Canada so likely still do. We found them in the wallpaper and paint department. There was different size packages to choose from and lots of different themes. The package we chose had eight large vehicles, twelve smaller ones and fifteen two - three inch traffic signs.( Cost 12.99 Canadian) We also have a Winnie the Pooh set on the walls in the playroom. They are great!!! :D

I read in a magazine or saw this on Home & Garden Television one, can't remember which...have tried it with some pictures, and it has worked well so far...I just have never gotten around to finishing the room.

I used pictures from an old tractor calendar, sprayed the back of the picture with adhesive, then glued them to the non-sticky side of clear contact paper. Next, I cut out the picture, then peeled off the paper from the sticky side of the contact paper and stuck them on the wall. Right now, I have them along the top of the wall, like a border.
