View Full Version : power smoothie recipe
If you have trouble packing in your fruit and protein during the day-this is what I make for myself and the kids every morning. It is soo good and full of really healthy stuff!
Serving size-10 -12oz
1 banana
1/2 orange or pineapple juice
1/2 plain, fat free yougurt
3-5 frozen strawberries, peaches, blueberries or any frozen fruit
Blend it all together in a blender. I serve the kids first(double recipe), then I add a scoop of protein powder and 1/4 Kashi cereal and reblend it for my morning meal.

Mmmmm!! Sounds yummy! Thanks for posting it!!!
What is Kashi cereal, where do you get it and what type of protein powder do you use?!! :D
Kashi is an extremely high fiber, low sugar cereal. I munch on it as a snack too and its really good for you. You can get it in the cereal aisle. I think my brand is called -Good Friends.
The protein powder comes from GNC and its called EAS Whey Protein powder. The vanilla flavor is delicious.

I loooove smoothies! I will often have one for breakfast as well. They taste good and the fruit gives you some instant energy. Here is the recipe my brother gave me which he got from the book The Zone.
2 Cups Fruit (I do Frozen)
1 Cup Milk
1/2 Cup Nonfat Vanilla Yogurt
1/4 Cup Lowfat Cottage Cheese
I like combining different fruit combinations. Cherries are great to sweeten up any other fruit combination, but they tend to be too sweet for me on their own. I also dig Strawberry/bananna smoothies.
One note of caution: If you do the two cups of frozen fruit you may want to let them sit out for a bit depending on the strength of your blender. I think I've just about killed mine! lol
But hey... I never used my blender before I started drinkning these, so at least I'm using it!

Different brand names, but same ingredients. Some come in flake form, I prefer the chunky version.
