the phone rings and it's the alarm company for my next door neighbors saying their alarm is going off..I say, they are out of town and I look outside and I see a strange truck in front of their house. The alarm company says they will call the police. We hang up. I go to look outside and I see a guy walking around their house with a flashlight..I call back the police and tell them this and I can hear the dispatcher saying "be aware that neighbors have spotted unknown suspect walking the property". We wait maybe five minutes and 3 police cars pull up..they surround the house. Finally one walks over to us and says "don't see anything and no sign of break in..you have a key?" I say yes. They say well can you let us in...I don't want to take both kids over, ds volunteers and the police say they will protect him!!!!!!!!!!! He comes back with eyes as big as saucers saying "mom, I opened the door, they pushed me aside with one in front and one in back with their hands on their guns yelling 'police'!!!!!" DD starts to cry, I start breathing again and ds is just sitting their grinning! I said to him "well, when you write you 'what I did over spring break' paper you can say 'I made a bear, picked strawberries and was part of a police investigation'!!!!!!!!!
Turns out the guy I saw was buying a car from the neighbors on the other side and he drove up at the same time that as the alarm went off...the police said that because of the bad weather we had today (our street was flooded!) they had been having a bunch of false alarms.

Wow... what a lot of excitement! It sounds like your ds had a lot of fun helping the police with their investigation. LOL I'm sure this is something he will not soon forget, and he'll certainly have a lot to tell his friends when he goes back to school. :) I'm glad that everything turned out okay and that their was no break in. I couldn't imagine returning home from a trip and finding out that my house had been broken into.

I think it did kind of flip them out..dd is having a hard time going to sleep tonite and ds keeps asking when dh is going to be home (he is out tonite with some friends)! LOL

Yeah, I bet that ds will have lots of fun with this story. I guess it did cause a pretty exciting night. Glad that everything was okay though.

At the eye doctor today we run into a neighbor who asks "so what have ya'll been up to for spring break"...WELL, ds very nonchalantly says "built a bear, picked strawberries, stopped our neighbors house from being rob" LOL After the lady picked her mouth up, he told the whole story, grinning the whole time!!! LOL But he did want me to go over to the house with him this morning.
