Well my voice finally gave out completely yesterday. When we got home from church I was down to a whisper. Anything else caused coughing and pain in my chest. I had dh call in for my sub and I made the decision last night to rest the voice today.

Slept till 7:00, took ds to school, took his physical form to the coach so he could start track today. Came home and straightend up the house. The carpenters are working on the new garage. The cable company called to see if our cable was still out (and being Thurs. I was anxious to get it back). When we got home yesterday we had no cable and the contractor had dug a ditch for conduit and I was afraid he'd cut the cable. I was going to lay into the cable company if he had, because he dug nowhere near any of the lines marked by the cable, electric or water guys who'd been out last week. Anyway, it was still out, but they have since come out and we are back on. I've been called 3 times by telemarketers and I've decided not to answer any more calls since I can barely speak anyway. The phone has rung 2 other times and no one has left a message. Is that what it's like all day for you stay at home moms? That's annoying.

Thought I'd catch up here. Then I think I'll go ahead and defrost the freezer which is almost bare and then go get groceries. I love being off and not being sick enough to be in bed. I feel fine with the cough syrup, I just can't speak. I'm going to make some new throw pillows for the living room, write some cards out for a few people at church, and I'd like to strip a chair I want to refinish in the garage. I'm loving today. I so envy you moms who stay home. I love my job, but it has been stressful this year, and being a full time home manager sounds so good right now.

Sounds like you had a fun and busy day planned! I'd love to have a day to just get stuff done that I want to do and not the daily stuff I have to do! Wish I could call in sick! ;) I know what you mean about the annoying telemarketer calls. I try to screen calls if a number doesn't show up, but if I give in and answer I tell them to take me off their list or I just hang up....depends on my mood and if the dks are hanging on me! LOL!

Hope you get your voice back soon!! :)

Sounds like you have an awful lot of energy for not feeling up to par! Hope you get your voice back soon.

I know exactly what you mean!! When I worked full time I loved the unexpected days off. Even though I would still do work around the house, it was something different than I did everyday and didn't feel so much like work. I think the big difference, for me anyway, is that at home I answer (mostly) to myself. At work, I have to answer to a boss. After you are home on a regular basis for a while it's common to feel in a rut and want a change again. Guess it's the 'grass is greener' syndrome...

Enjoy the rest of your day!:)

I'm glad you had a fun day at home! Have you been to the doctor about your throat?

There isn't much worse than being a Kindergarten teacher who can't speak! LOL Ugh....I know that feeling. Usually happens to me once a year, and before the voice "goes", the kids start saying, "You don't sound like yourself." LOL! It's just not the kind of job where you can just lay low, and gesture or write on the board to give directions. Glad you enjoyed your day home. I feel the same way you do...I love the unexpected treat of a day home. My ds was home for the day a couple of weeks ago, and while he was sick :( I felt great:) and got tons done that day while he slept. Snow days are the BEST! (Well, except for the shoveling part.)
