While on one of my MANY doctor-supervised diets, he told me how to break a plateau and it worked for me:
All you eat all day is six small apples--one every two hours.
I know that seems tough, but I was on 500 calories/day at the time so it felt like Thanksgiving to me! ;)
I've even done it in the morning only--one apple every two hours and then went back to my regular diet in the afternoon--and it still worked for me.
