Isn't it sad when they think Nick Jr. is "baby-ish". :( My kids (6 and 8 years) like Nickelodeon shows the best. SpongeBob Squarepants (dumb show!), Rocket Power, The WildThornberry's, Fairly Oddparents. Rugrats is still "in" with them. LOL They also like to watch Reading Rainbow, and Zoom! on PBS. They know they aren't allowed to watch TeenNick and I don't allow Hey Arnold or As Told By Ginger. At night they like to watch Survivor on Thursday nights. They go to bed at 7:30 most nights...so there's not much t.v. time! Thank goodness! My younger ds still sleeps with a "Po" teletubby! He wouldn't dare watch the show...his friends and his brother have convinced him that that show is "icky"...but he's still devoted to his Po. Phew...he's not growing up toooo fast!;) If I even bring up "Barney" I get this crazy look from my kids..."Mooooom.....Barney is icky!" Poor Barney!

She only watches PBS. And only for about an hour at the most each day.

And, dks are having a SpongeBob birthday party since we found a SpongeBob pinata!! What else can they come up with?? The show is so dumb it's funny.

My son recently started watching the Noggin channel -- owned by nickelodeon. He likes a game show called Sponk!, Nickelodeon Wild Side, and the Ghostwriter Mysteries (which I think are from the eighties???).

My boys (12 & 10) like Dragon ball Z & Digimon but they're not allowed to watch those shows.
What they have been watching has been Rocket Power, & S Club 7. Actually they haven't watched much tv lately since dh has been home. Oldest ds likes Who's Line, but there really is a lot of it that he doesn't understand.
My younger kids 6, 5 & 4 like Blues Clues, Bob the Builder, Dragon Tales and shows like that. They haven't watch much tv lately either.
My son is 9 and get's to watch quite a bit of TV........He watches Cartoon Network during the weekend and some of the shows that Daddy is watching......
Malcom in the Middle, Stargate, Startrek, Simpsons (don't really like him to watch this, but Daddy doesn't get the point).....

My kids don't really care. (10 & 6) We leave the TV on nearly constantly. I turn it to some science show usually and they watch bits and pieces as they play. It's amazing how much stuff they have learned from TV! We taped the various Walking With Dinosaurs type shows for DD. She loves educational shows about dinosaurs. Those she will sit and watch. She was excited the other day when she heard they were going to have ice age shows (Animal Planet?) because of the movie Ice Age. Of course this is a 6 yr old that wants to *dig bones* when she grows up. Big improvement over her last goal of a Burger King worker!
DH tends to turn it to cartoons, science shows or sporting shows and they'll watch bits and pieces. They really ever bother to change the channel themselves since they really don't get caught up in the shows.
Excluding PBS they watch very little local TV. And even PBS seems to be less educational then before. More morality type educational shows and/or things for the preschool set and less science stuff.
Noggin has a really cute cartoon called CRO. It has a little boy that learns all kinds of things from a woolly mammoth. At the same time heas dealing with the neaderthals that aren't very bright and keep messing things up. He learns things like the principles of flights. Or gear mechanisms. Cute stuff because any child watching will just think it's a fun cartoon and in reallity it's teaching like the old Magic School Bus used to do on PBS. Any kid that gets into the ice age promotion may like that show.
