I got dd's Easter dress this past weekend. It is a darling pastel plaid shift in raw silk. It was on sale too! Need to get her some shoes for it. I got her some cute capri's to wear to the family party also. Picked up some stuff for me too. ;)
Not sure what I am going to put in their baskets though.
I usually do a movie or beanie baby, and some little stuff. We don't really stuff them too much with candy.

We usually do the spring toy thing at Easter. There will be chalk, bubbles, and kites. Very little candy because I don't like them to eat it. They usually each get a new book and one very small toy(under $5 ) Dd is just about to blow a gasket becuase she wants to wear her Easter dress every day. Looks like there will be snow on the ground so there won't be an Eater egg hunt outside this year. We'll probably hide those plastic ones inside the house.

We don't do much candy either. Usually just a small chocolate rabbit. :) So far dks are each getting a Rescue Hero and a book.

I also don't do much candy....usually a medium sized chocolate bunny, and maybe some bubble gum eggs. I found some BIG magnifying glasses at the Dollar store, so they are each getting one of those. They are also getting pinwheels, and a computer software game (those value priced ones...). I sometimes stick a matchbox car in, and last year one got a bug catcher container, and the other got a butterfly net. That was fun.

I got them some candy a few weeks ago- just jelly beans and some egg shaped gum. That's all they are getting for candy. I bought my dd a beanie bopper and that's it so far. I am so far behind on everything this week. DH is going shopping this afternoon to get a few things to put in their baskets. I'm sure glad to have him. :)

I don't buy "baskets" cuz they seem a waste to me. I just bought sand pails from Target for $1.99. To go in them I have so far... puzzles, bubbles, bathing trunks/suit, books, coloring books, computer game I found on clearance and some cute little bunny ear headbands. :D Couldn't resist those! I do have a little bit of candy too.

My dk's get easter basket from both my parents and Brichards parents too.

I managed to go overboard, as usual! Don't do candy, so I guess I try to make up for it in other ways! Got her a Pooh bear wearing a bunny suit (she saw one at Target after I'd already bought hers and had a fit over it!!! :* ), a Clifford book, Pooh sandals, sidewalk chalk, a bathing suit, a bunny bracelet, some small toys, and a Scooby toothbrush. I'm going to hate myself when she starts catching on!!!

Growing up we got a new basket each year -- usually a plastic bucket that looked like a picnic basket for the girls (4 of us) and a plastic dump truck for my brother.

When I married my husband, his kids were 5 and 7 ... we used to do a new basket each year, but it might be a regular basket, or a tackle box for son, purse for daughter, etc. ... Did the same when our son was born -- usually used a bucket and shovel. One year I took plain white gift bags and let them decorate them with pre-cut pieces to make a bunny scene.

This will be their third easter using the same basket. I took material and sewed "bags" and lined them -- denim for daughter, fishing motif material for one son, and cars and trucks for other son. The front and back of the bags are egg-shaped, with a straight panel connecting them to be the sides and bottom. I then took fabric stiffener and sprayed them so that they would stand on their own. I hope when they are older that the easter baskets are as special to them as they are to me.

I ususally do something new each year when I make baskets for kids, because I can't save the ones I gave them from the year before, but I usually try to give something that they can use, so that it is not a complete waste. Last year I did book bags, but this year I probably won't even do them. It gets more and more expensive as the kid list grows, and we are trying to save money. I did buy Minnie a traveling dish bowl with a stuffed rabbit and some treats, but I really doubt that she will care. Dh is getting a water bottle filled with his favorite candy (to carry to the golf course) and a small miniture collector car. That is probably it.

We use wicker baskets that my SIL gave to us over the years at Christmas filled with jellies. The kind of basket you can find at WalMart nearly year round. They had real Easter baskets but I don't know what happened to them. Besides I'm like imamamma and go overboard. Normally we'd buy a movie and board game apiece and/or spring toys along with some candy. Not much candy.

This year so far I've gotten DD the expansion packs to go with her Leapfrog Leappad Desk. Or at least the 4 of 5 packs that are still being made. We'll also get her a couple of music packets to go with her Music Maker. A music maker looks like a harpsicord but you can place the sheet music underneath and follow along. Sort of a paint by numbers for music and easy for even little kids. I even love it! Or we might skip the music and get her the latest Land Before Time movie. Guess they're up to volume 20 or something ;-)

So far we've gotten DS expansion cartidges to go with his VTech Outdoor Trekker. Sort of a medium age kids cross between a geo-safari, a radio, and a computer. We will also get him a beginners guitar book or two. Any suggestions? DS is very good with a recorder - self taught before they started it at school. DH played the guitar in a band but is also self-taught. DH isn't very good with sheet music though.

I stopped by the Lifeway Bookstore on my way home yesterday because I have been wanting to get this book for my son and I to read together. It is called Benjamin's Box. I got the set of Resurrection Eggs to go with it. You read the story and open one egg at the beginning of each page. The eggs contain things like a plastic donkey (for the one Jesus rode), coins (to symbolize money Judas took for betraying Jesus), nails, white cloth, and so on ... and the last egg is empty. However, the book is different than I remember. This one is set in Jesus' time -- the boy, Benjamin, was present at the events. I thought I remembered the story as set in modern times. But the Resurrection Eggs still go along with the story. Does anybody know of any such book?

My boys are all teenagers but we still do Easter Baskets. I got an EB until I was 20! :)

I've been slow this year because of ds's bday so I've only got some beanie babies so far. I'm going to add some cd's and candy.

I still did the Easter Basket thing for my kids last year too... but not too sure if I am this year. Sometimes I feel kind of dumb still doing it... like I'm not letting them grow up but... I KNOW that they still like and look forward to getting them. Last year I even made one up for my middle dd's boyfriend and he SOOOOOOO enjoyed receiving it. Of course... before he left to go home he took all of the candy out and left the basket. (He didn't want his brother/sister or parents to know he had gotten it... LOL) My oldest dd will be 25 on Friday and so I think I may skip giving her one but... not haven't yet made up my mind. I haven't done ANY shopping... not even for my day care kids, so I guess I'll be doing that one of these nights. My luck all of the candy will already be gone because I've waited too long. 8o Hope not. :)

My youngest dd has already let me know what she wants in her Easter Basket... she's getting her braces off on Thursday and is anxious to try out and eat some of that candy that she's missed out on for the past 2-1/2 years. LOL

Diane -- A lady I used to work with still got an Easter Basket after she was married. It would have stuff in it like razors, special soap, things like that. You could even put some fast food rest. gift certificates in. Or, just do some fun stuff -- fuzzy dice or air freshener for their car. I don't think they are ever too old to get a basket -- besides it is not the candy inside it that is important, it is the love.

:biglaugh: Well... I did it! I went out to Target and Wal Mart and bought a bunch of stuff for their baskets and I'm sure they'll really enjoy them. I got some new (very fancy) baskets on clearance at Target a few years ago and have been using those every year since. Before that they had these old plastic ones that they had had for years. LOL I had to buy my oldest dd a new one this year as she has moved twice since last Easter and can't seem to find her basket anywhere, which doesn't surprise me at all... LOL 8o I also bought a bunch of candy... which I probably won't put a lot in their baskets but I will usually put one big basket that I have in the middle of the dining room table and that way everybody can enjoy it. We still do dye eggs... and I STILL hide them all between the living room, dining room and kitchen. As old as they are... they still look forward to and enjoy their easter egg hunt. LOL One year they couldn't find one of the eggs and I couldn't quite remember where I had hidden it... 8o SIX months later I found it hidden down into the cushion of my couch. It never smelled or gave off a bad oder... (Thank God!!) but now I always make it a point to draw out a map as to where I've hidden all of them. :) Don't want that to happen again. LOL
