According to the calendar, it's spring, but here in Vermont we know it's really mud season. Even though the winter wasn't real hard, I'm struck with "cabin fever". I can't wait to get my garden ready to plant. And we sure will be glad when we no longer have to get the hats, snowpants, boots, mittens, ect. on all the kids before we go out. Seems like it takes longer to get ready to go out than the actual play time. At least today was Friday and an in service day for us. We spent the morning catching up on paper work, assesment forms and all that good stuff. This afternoon I went to a workshop given by Dr. Teresa Bolick and called "Play as an Essential Tool for Enhancing Communication and Social/Emotoinal Competence". It was really informative. She gave us a list of references that she felt were especially helpful for those who love and work with children with autism spectrum disorders. If anyone is interested I would be more than glad to pass them on. The best part of the workshop was that I ran into someone who had done some work for us last summer. She is just finishing her student teaching and will be looking for a job working with young children in the fall. Just this morning I had learned that one of our teachers was going to be leaving in June. Miracles do happen!
