View Full Version : what's on your counter top?
just looking over at my counter top...which is small really, and got to thinking..I wonder what other women have on thier counter tops....so...what do you all have on your counter tops?
I have the coffee maker...a must....a cooking jar filled with tea bags for dh....the knife block....a jar of unpopped popcorn...a candle....and a pitcher of brita water.....
interesting....LOL...8)
How 'bout if I say what all is on my counter when it's *clean*?! 8o :D Three canisters, (cookie jar, flour and sugar), intercom, toaster, small basket, decorative pitcher, toaster and food processor. I'll go ahead and confess that there is usually mail and "to do" stuff stacked by my canisters, under the phone. :) Interesting question!
Gosh my counters are always a mess. Under the phone I have a basket of odds and ends and a glass full of pens and pencils. Under the cupboards I have a crystal bowl, coffee pot, toaster, butter dish, loaf of wheat bread, big container of p.b. On the right of the stove I have a plastic box with playstation games, cutting board, container of large utensils. On the other side of the stove are the knives, homework, crayons, coloring books, construction paper. By the sink I have soap, lotion, and some clean dishes drying. Seems like no matter how many times I empty the counters everything makes it way back. :(

On one side of my sink I have a toaster and a coffee pot. On the other side of my sink I have a fish bowl housing my betta, an electric can opener and my cookie jar. Across the room and next to my stove I have a set of glass canister's. I hate having a lot of "stuff" piled on my counters so I work really hard to keep them free from clutter... and with my family around that isn't always an easy thing to do. LOL

Toaster and coffee pot..hate cluttered counter tops! :)
I'm SO JEALOUS of all of you. There is no room in my kitchen or on my counters to have even half or a fourth of the stuff that you guys have. I just went and measured my counters (with a ruler mind you, that's how small they are). I have my microwave on one counter which takes up most of the room. So I have a section of useable counter top by my microwave that is 22 inches wide by 12 inches long. I have a 24 inch by 24 inch square space next to my sink (which is the only usable counter top in the kitchen!) and then on the other side of the sink there is a 26 inch wide by 24 inch long space that has my dish drainer and a knife block shoved way back in the corner. It's not a very usable space because there is a cabinet above it and next to it so it's very hard to get to. That's why I put my dish drainer there.
My kitchen and the counters SUCK!!!:\ I sure can't wait to move out of base housing and live in my OWN house some where! :)

We lived in an apartment for 8 years after we married, so with not much counter space they were ALWAYS full. We built a house last summer, and I was determined I was not going to have ANYTHING on my counters...Now, there is a basket in which I keep bread, buns, etc.; the breach machine, the coffee pot, the toaster oven, and a paper towel holder. On any given day there are assorted dirty dishes -- things that cannot go in the dishwasher, like the pampered chef stoneware, the bread case from the bread machine, the electric skillet. I hate to wash dishes!!!!

I envy all of you with clean countertops....mine are usually kind of cluttered! My island is usually empty, though. I have out a basket of odds/ends (catch all!)...a vase of flowers (fake)...a fire extinguisher by the stove, a glass canister set, upright papertowel holder, banana tree/holder, knife set w/block, and right now a bowl of Easter candy. Don't even ask me what's on my planning desk (also in the kitchen) . Ugh...makes me want to organize. Maybe you'll inspire me!!!! :)

Short answer......A LOT!!
radio, small basket of odds and ends, coffee maker (:)) , napkins, recipe box (very dusty!), paper plates, 2 bags of chips, cookie jar (full of duck sauce and hot mustard packets, bread box (where the real cookies are), toaster oven, 4 canisters, fire extinguisher
I think that's all, but the crumbs. I hate crumbs--dds leave them to make me CRAZY! LOL

Too much! My island is the catch all....almost always cluttered with mail/homework/odds & ends. The main counters have the coffee maker, canisters for coffee/sugar, 4 glass canisters for pasta, toaster, wicker basket for bread, banana tree and a small basket for ds medications. And of course dirty dishes at all times.....dh just doesn't do the dishes as often as I used to.
:)
Bread Machine and a Mixer that is in the back corner. Also a covered basket with recipes. Frankly it is a few things too many in my opinion!
To the left of the stove: canaster set, a blue & white village salt/pepper shakers, napkin holder, pasta house, trivet, and steak knife holder; to the right of the stove: can opener and toaster oven, a counter art glass cutting board and a dish towel; on the long counter/bar dividing the kitchen from dinning room: a paper towel holder and usually the mail; to the left of the sink: the coffee pot, coffee grinder and an old avon bottle holding liquid soap and a dish towel; to the right of the sink: the tea maker. I don't like for other things to be there except when I'm cooking. I like order. I like everything in it's own little place. I'm so obsessive/compulsive.

I hate cluttered counter tops too, especially because I hardly have any counter top space, LOL. I have on one side of my sink a plaster hand-print that ds made a few months ago, a wine bottle in a cool rack, and a paper towel holder. On the other side of my sink I have a beautiful glass bowl with plastic fruit. On my smaller counter near the stove I have a wooden box that holds all our bills and some other junk mail and a candle.
oops...we also have an easybake oven on the counter. Its only there on a temp visa though.

A crock with mail and keys in it, betta fish in a vase, utensils on a spinning thing, knife block, Easter goodies and a radio. The fish will be moved soon and I can't wait to dispose of the Easter stuff. I have lots of counter space, but I don't like to be as clutter free as possible. On the island I have a bowl of fruit and a candle.

One thing I like about my new apartment is it has twice the counter space of my old place. I have, not an island, but a big *****illa separating the kitchen from the dinning room. It is my work space so I keep it mostly bare. At the end near the wall though, I have what my husband likes to refer to as my "shrine to coffee". My coffee maker is there and also a little shelf with 2 kinds of sugar, cups, tea bags and a teapot with a little vase of flowers sitting next to it.
