From 198 to 200...

Oh well, I know I am working out well. I did over 24 miles on the road last week. So I am obviously losing it at the dinner table. I actually gained weight last year when I trained for the Mini and always found the concept fascinating.

I think the problem is that when I run heavy mileage I rationalize eating more food. I think that since I am working so hard that I can eat anything I want. Unfortunately I've come to the realizatoin that that assumption is false!

Ah well... I'll still shoot for 196 next Monday. I actually saw that number on the scales a few days last week. I had too much pizza on the weekend and ate a little too much fried food... and I think that is what did me in.

Overall though, I am making improvements. I went to a nice steak place and was strong enough to order broiled fish. I just need to remember next time not to eat all the fried mushrooms, chicken livers, and chips with Con queso!

Brichard, that is 2 lbs! Aren't you getting just a tad bit obsessive. If you are running as much as are, you need extra fuel (your body will start grabbing hold to every calorie if you starve it) plus muscle weighs more than fat. Meausre yourself, and start looking at inches instead of lbs. Then you can have lots of numbers to obsess about! ;)

Amen Ann! Brich-a true test of weight lose is not by the scale (for the reason Ann mentioned), but the inches you loose. Try taking a tape measure and keep track of the areas you are concerned about (stomach etc).

My pants are a bit tighter... so unfortunately I think the scales are dead on. I can still wear my 36 pants, but they are more snug then they were at 193. Even at 180 I will still be a size 36, and that really isn't what I'd call a super small waist.

If I were really pushing things I'd be shooting for 160-170 and going for a 32-34 inch waist. But let me tell ya'.... I'm not!

:)

Thanks for your words of encouragement though. I really think I was just weighing a bit heavy today. I ate some salty stuff this weekend and that always makes a person retain a bit of that water weight.

But I really mean it when I say I can work out vigorously and be fat. I was a solid 220 last year when I ran the Mini and I had a major gut! I still have too much in my mid-section, but it is much improved!
