This one's not such a big deal! BTW - thanks to everyone who's given me words of encouragement. Sorry I keep asking for ya'll's input without responding to anyone else's posts, but I'm doing about all I can right now.

Anyway, on to the topic! DS took care of our neighbor's dogs this weekend. All he had to do was let them out into the yard 5 times over the course of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and then put them back in the house. My boys haven taken care of various neighbor's dogs and they never discuss payment ahead of time - they just take whatever they're given. Well they gave him $30! I think this is too much and he should return some of it, he of course doesn't agree. This happened once before with a different neighbor, and they were grateful when we gave some back. I guess they'd all rather overpay than look like they aren't giving enough.

What would ya'll do? Would you make your child give back the money or let him keep it?

Donna, If they'd had to put their dog in a kennel, it would have cost more than $30. Let him keep the money this time. Next time, make sure he has an agreement beforehand on how much. People will pay a lot to have their pets cared for properly. It's not like that's the price your ds set with them. If they'd given him $3 and a lollipop, you wouldn't make him go back and ask for more, would you?

How are you? Thinking of you often, and knowing that you're hanging tough. (((((((hugs))))))

I agree with Cathy... I'd let him keep it. It definitely would have cost them a lot more if they had taken the dogs to a kennel. (One dog would have cost more than $30.00) 8o Next time have them agree upon a $$ before they go... that way there won't be any surprises for either one of you. :)

I say let him keep it - they knew what they were giving him - besides, that's only $6 a trip over there and I'd imagine he played with the dog, etc.
Like Cathy said, a kennel would have cost them much more.
:)

(hey, don't sweat the postings, we know you have your hands full) {{hugs}}

Donna-I give my teenager neighbor girl $10.00 a day to come to the house twice a day to feed and walk the dog and past cat. She does an excellent job and takes the dog for long walks. That is a steal of a price to keep him in his own environment and comfortable.

My ds does this too, and he is paid anywere between $5-10 per day. He doesn't ask either, but that's what it has averaged down to. I pay our trainer $15 a day when we board our dog. Let your ds keep the money, but have him set a clear price before hand.

I think your ds did a great job....wish I lived near you guys with boys who take care of Dogs...:lol: If I were to kennel Max it would cost a pretty penny...so I say let him keep the money...can you persuade him to maybe put some in his bank account....for a rainy day?

btw Donna, its great to see you around...:)
