dd will be five in July....for the last few weeks she seems tired after school, she has 1/2 day pre-k and starts at 12:30 pm.... a little irriatable...nothing too out of the ordinary...but at night she has started to cry in her sleep alittle and has had a few bed wetting accidents...I am wondering if any of you have experienced something like this, and if so could this be the mysterous "Growing Pains"?

thanks in advance......:(

With us the growing pains were actual PAINS that really hurt them. Could be that she is just tired or is there something that she is maybe worried about? Has something changed at school or home?

My dd's also only had the PAINS, legs/knee's mostly... and to the point where they would just cry and cry. I remember having them when I was about that age too and it IS awfully painful. 8o

She could just be dreaming about something sad? A few years ago I had an older child that I had cared for who would dream that he had gotten up to go to the bathroom... thought he was sitting on the toilet and would actually go. 8o Of course he'd wake up wet... 8o Sounds really weird but it was. LOL

I hope it ends soon... It's been a LOOOOOOONG time ago but I remember how not fun it was to wake up in a wet bed. 8o Also not fun for you having to wash/clean everything up. I hope whatever reason... it ends for her soon. :)

I think by this time in the school year, the kids start to get fed up (I know the moms do, lol). The little ones especially probably don't understand what they are feeling, but at the end of a long 8 months, she is probably ready for a well deserved break.

Having said that, I would certainly ask her about school and whether anything has changed, is her teacher still nice, what does she do at school, who are her friends, etc etc and just make sure everything is still ok with her.

thanks for all your advice...I know her legs have been hurting when she is crying at night...and she is growing....as for school....I will ask around...she adores her teacher, could be scared about starting Kindergarden next year, with a new teacher and all....thanks again....

BTW she wore a pullup last night and woke up with it was dry....must have needed the extra feeling of protection....

I have found that with my preschool group, many older preschoolers need a break in the middle of the day. We have a quiet time just after lunch for the ones who stay all afternoon. Every child has her own spot to just sit in and be alone and quiet. Some actually sleep, but most just enjoy the time to look at books, do quiet activities alone. Maybe you could designate a corner of a room as just "her spot" and put several cushions there, some favorite books and small toys.

Renee, I was going to say just what Kathy said - I remember dd being pooped by the time school was out last year - I hope things even out for ya soon!

thanks for the idea  we did just that yesterday, I placed some Giant throw pillows we had in her corner and some blankets she likes...and I let her take three favorite books out of her brothers room...8o she can hang there when she needs alone time....;)
