Is "view new posts" the same as "today's active topics" in UBB? Will it only show the posts from midnight to midnight of the current day?

Actually, "view new posts" should show you all the new posts since you were on last. :):):):);):)

How did you end up with the "quote" within your reply to me?

Mickey

Cool! I like that better than "Today's Active Topics"!

Underneath the post you see the icons for:
'profile', 'search', 'edit/delete' and 'quote'.

If you click the 'quote' icon, it will bring up the reply window with the message quoted.

Well, isn't that cute? LOL! I'm definitely getting sucked back in! This is entirely too much fun!

here goes nothing!! This looks like the forum my dh always goes too. At least I can go to him for help.

DL - I live in Indiana and I am in different time zones 1/2 year. Do I need to change my "time" feature when you all switch?

darlene

Oh my! This is going to take some getting used to! I'm not one for change! LOL Is this a permanent change??? Or can we vote the other board back???
:o)

David....does this mean we can't answer back to one person ie. darlene 2 dl? Do we have to start a new thread each time? This is warping my brain.....I don't want to lose all you good people here.

I think you'll really like the board once you start using it regularly. You can always 'quote' the person you are responding to now.

With all the benefits to the board, the only drawback I see is that there is no 'thread' view. In other words, you are going to see all the posts on the page verses seeing only one at a time. Less clicks! But that will make it a little harder to determine who you're responding to. That's where the quote function comes in or just posting their name in the forum.

Very Cool! I read your icons and have to try....
 and my favorite.... :snickers:

I can see where this will be lots of fun...and I like less clicks. I've used similar boards before and love those icons!!

Waaah! I don't know if I like this. It's really wierd. What happened to the debate board? And all the stuff we posted this morning, it's gone? Waaaah! (yes, I'm whining)

I like the little feature that sends you email notification when you get a response to a thread you've participated in, though.

The other board is still there and I'll be creating a new Debate board here as well.

To get to the other board, just go here

"Owner and all around good guy"! LOL! That's good! So what will all us "Newbies" eventually become and when? ;)

AnnW

Ok..so there is no way to see the most recent posts since I last checked? Also, Darlene brought up a great question..how do you reply to one person?

Hey, Queenie! How ya holding up? ;) LOL!

You can click on the quote button below the person's post to reply to a specific comment. On the UBB at other sites, most people just address the person.

I feel very confused and stupid!!
But think that it is neat once ya get it! Hope I can!

Since I'm easily overwhelmed, this is way too much new stuff at once! I'll get used to it I'm sure, though. I've got mixed feelings about the user names showing when you're on the board. It's interesting to see who's here, but I chose to go invisible!

AnnW
02-11-2001, 10:50 PM
well heck...i posted a question and it's gone!
David...to see the most recent posts, I have to see all of the ones from today, right? I can't just check since I was last on like at IB?
Tell me again, why this format is better??? LOL

AnnW

Hey, Queenie! How ya holding up? ;) LOL!

not great Mick..I am losing posts!!! LOL

AnnW
02-11-2001, 10:56 PM
When I got here, I clicked on the most recent post (or whatever it's called) but didn't see ANY of the posts since I last posted..that's why I posted that question!!!! And what is TxMom talking about, about being able to see who is on..what no lurking???? Yes, I do lurk..don't want ya'll to know how addicted I really am!!! LOL

TXmom
02-11-2001, 10:56 PM
Hey, how did AnnW reply to Mickey when I don't see Mickey's post? HELP!!!!

AnnW
02-11-2001, 11:00 PM
TX Mom...I don't see all the posts all the time either! So far, I have had to go through the WHOLE friggin' thread to see all the posts...

TXmom
02-11-2001, 11:02 PM
Well, at the bottom of the home page it lists who's on right now. It says 4 members, but only lists annW, Pam and David's names cuz I'm invisible Ha! Then it lists the number of guests, but we don't know who they are cuz they're not registered.

TXmom

I'm also now sure if I like the way it tally's up your posts. I like to give the illusion that I have a life outside this board LOL! Actually I do have a sign language test at 9am tomorrow that I'm going to go study for now, bye!

If you notice at the top of any thread, you'll see a link that says "Go to first unread post". Click that, and it will take you to the first post you haven't read in that thread.

From the main board, if you click "view new posts", it shows you all the threads that have new posts since you last logged on. When you click on the thread, it takes you to the first page. From there, simply click on the "Go to first unread post" link at the top and you'll get to that post.

Also, in the forums, you'll probably notice a little arrow pointing down next to the names of the threads. If you click that arrow, you'll be taken to the first new post as well.

I started a new forum for questions about the board. Go to the main forum and post any other questions about the board there.

I use this board everyday with several other sites, and it's by far the most user friendly. Once you get past the first growing pains of course! :):):)

Have a :snickers:, that should cheer you up!

I will take that snickers, David, but I tried all that and kept getting to the top of the board and having to wade through all the posts...very frustrating. I am sure I will adjust, if I don't I guess I will be gone.

Yowza, I'd hate for you to leave just because of the board change. Why don't you give it a few days at least? I'm sure you'll get used to it and even find some shortcuts on your own. ;)

I'm going to close this thread now to get you guys to start some new ones! :p
