View Full Version : How late do you stay up?

Just curious. I tend to stay up late - only time I seem to get quiet time to myself! LOL! This week I have actually been going to bed around 10, but usually I stay up until at least 11 and if I'm reading a good book I can easily stay up until 2! It makes for early mornings though since one or both of dks are usually up by 7. Dh thinks I am crazy for staying up so late, but I have always been this way - except for the early months of pregnancy where it was a struggle to stay up past 7! LOL!

I stay up way later than I should. LOL By the time I get done making supper, doing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen... their isn't too much time left just for me so, it's usually not until at least 12:00, and sometimes later. Also, my oldest dd has gotten in the habit of not coming to visit us until about 10:00 - 10:30 two nights a week (after her clinicals) so, not to be rude... I stay up. LOL It's about the only time SHE'S available, so you take what you can get. :) On other nights I usually GET to bed at about 11:00 but after watching what I want on TV (We have a TV in our room) or reading what I want to read, the lights don't go off until much later. I'm usually up anywhere between 5:45 and 6:15, depending upon when my first child is coming in for day care. I guess I really don't require a lot of sleep. :)

I've always wanted to be a person who could stay up late, but unfortunately, I'm not :( I go to bed around 9:00-9:30 on week nights (just after ds heads to bed) and watch t.v. and/or read until about 10:00 and then it's usually lights out for me. It's a little better in the summer when it's lighter longer, then I might get another half an hour out of myself, LOL.

Well, I can hardly keep my eyes open at 8 p.m., but then I catch my second wind and I'm usually up until 12 or 12:30 a.m. Then I get up between 6 and 6:30 a.m. I do find that I'm really tired some days and I should go to bed when I feel tired at 8, but I've always been a night owl and I think I'd feel like I was missing something! LOL!

I seem to need a lot of sleep...and if I'm not in bed by 9:30/10:00 p.m. it's not a very pretty scene in the morning! Even on the weekends I like to keep the routine the same. As a result, I'm not tired most days. My dh is a night owl...stays up and works on the computer until about midnight. I get up at 5:30 a.m., and dh and the kids get up at 6:00 a.m. How about your kids???? My boys (7 and 5) go to bed between 7:30 and 8:00 pm. (8:00 if they got up in the morning without too much nagging! 7:30 if it was a rough morning! LOL) Both were excellent nappers as babies...and seem to require 10 hours of sleep. Neither complains at bedtime...and both fall right asleep. Of course, in the Summer our schedule is totally different since I don't work and am a SAHM. No school...no work...AH! Gotta love Summer!

Beddy-bye time varies around here but it's usually around 10:30 - 11:00 I get there and then read or listen to music for a half hour. Mornings consist of a lot of leave me alone, I don't want to get up (since I have to be up by 6:15 to get everyone set and be to work myself by 7:15). I've tried going to bed earlier but end up just laying there not being able to sleep anyway. Once I'm up about 20 min. I'm ok again. I always think, the weekend is coming, I'll be able to sleep in a bit, but of course thats when I wake up by 6:30 and can't get back to sleep.
Dh and dd are great sleepers but ds does not need much sleep, I think he is just afraid he might miss something, he's a real busy-body.

Is it easy for you to sleep during the day? I worked a few overnights and I had a hard time getting as much sleep as I thought I would have at night. I also would be ready to eat a MEAL at 7 a.m.! LOL!

The kids are in bed by 7:00, lights out for them are usually 7:30 or so. Dh and I are often in bed by 8:00, definitely by 9:00 because he has to get up at 3:30 for work. "Late" for me is 10:30, lol! I have gone through my night owl stages though. It's so nice to have the house to myself and quiet! :0)

I'm a night owl too. That is the only time I can complete a thought with out getting interrupted! We're usually up till midnight sometimes 1 if we get interested in a movie or something. (It never fails those are the movies that start off really good and have an unbelievable stupid ending and leaves us wondering why we bothered! LOL) I get up about 6:30 but I feel so tired. I definitely need more sleep. I take after my grandma I guess, She'd stay up reading till 2 or 3 in the morning and then she'd sleep in till 9 or 10 in the morning.

(Hmm..we need a sleepy face icon! )

I too am dragging at around 7:00 pm but when our kids go down, both at 8:00 pm...I get a second wind....we watch tv in bed from about 11:00 to 11:30, I put the sleep timer on and dose off to the news...how lame I know....so we are early to bed and early to risers, not quite as early as some I see....

I usually head off to bed anywhere between 10:00 & 11:00 on week nights, it depends on which shift I have to work the next day and how much I have to clean up in the kitchen. LOL! On week ends I'm up till who knows when. I don't have to worry about what time I get up the next morning.

Yeah everyone keeps telling me to wait till I have kids. They say that a lot of luxeries(sp?) will be gone. I don't care though because I think I will aquire a lot of luxeries (again sp?) too.

Remember the days when you would go out and not get home until the next day sometime? LOL
Usually by 11:30, some times later, some nights earlier. Last night I was in bed at 10:30, right after friends left. I wasn't feeling the best and wound up being up all night with the flu. If it wasn't for that it was the kind of night dh and I would have been up pretty late playing cards. If the kids don't have school the next day we are rarely asleep before 12.

I never go to bed before 11 and usually it's about 12. I'm awake at 5 but don't always get up, though I can never go back to sleep. I've never been a good sleeper.

I may try resurrecting a couple of oldies if it gets really slow around here. It did get a few replies. I wonder how many people have changed/adjusted their schedules over the past few years. I bet Karla has--I don't think her oldest was in school then. LOL

Let's think of them as "classics". If we say 'oldies', people will start pointing. :nervous: :goofy:

Had to go back and read what I wrote. LOL! I'm actually still a night owl, but don't get much of a chance to read these days or quite as late like I originally posted. Still stay up until at least 11 unless I am completely wiped out.

I was debating through the whole thread whether it sounded familiar or not. ( Never thought to look at the date Until I saw my own post )

Still a night owl here. Get up at 5:30 though so it's harder to make it until midnight. My internal clock is definitely off!

ya'll are too funny ... lolol but to continue the thread .. lolol
I am normally a nite owl myself; but with babysitting the grandkids try to be in bed by midnite; up at 6:45 a.m. out the door by 7:15.
But before that was full time nite owl. Up all nite.. bed about 5 ? 6 ?? a.m. .. sleep til about noon; up do things visit on puter from about 9 p.m. til midnite depends.

Hopefully things will get fixed around here soon so I can be back to my own nite owl self again; don't do mornings very well, never have really; but for the time being am holding up well ... lololol ( I think??)
Prefer being a nite owl to being up mornings .. mornings are boring .. lololol but then they would be when ya feel like sleeping :goofy:
