We all know that water is important but I've never seen it stated as plainly as this before.

Water...

1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half world population)
2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a U-Washington study.

5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?

COKE...

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

For Your Information:

1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water or Coke?

that is wild!!

I'm one of those people who have a weak thirst mechanism and take it for hunger. My dd is the same way. Would rather put food in our mouths than something liquid.

Think I'll go and get me a glass of water now. LOL

Thankfully, I'm not a Coke drinker and only drink the diet version about 2 x's month.

Wow! I knew I should be drinking more. Now with so many reasons that really apply to me, I agree, pass the water.

ROFL!!! it is gross isn't it. I am a HUGE water drinker, but that made me very thirsty just reading it!
Every once in a while I want a soft drink and have found Diet Rite..it has no sodium and doesn't have nutrasweet, but is made with Splenda instead.

Double ditto!!

I am a Diet Pepsi addict. When I finally, begrudgingly, started drinking more water, I did see more weight loss, felt healthier, and actually wanted to eat lighter food.

Too bad I slid back into my old habits.:p

Why do you think that is - the sodium? I decided this week to lay off the Diet Pepsi and see what kind of differnece it makes.
I got weighed in Monday and had gained a 1/2 a pound. (must have been the pizza and ice cream we ate at Busch Gardens)

I think the sodium has alot to do with it. Plus, water helps to flush all the food through you.

I wish I was more of a water drinker but it never seems to quite "do it" for me. Sometimes when I try drinking a lot of water at once I even end up gaging on it. 8o Sometimes it will even leave me feeling nauseous and sick to my stomach. 8o It doesn't come close to quenching my thirst. I can/do drink a lot of the flavored bottled water okay... but not too sure if that counts... ?( It's got no calories. 8o I don't drink coke too often (and never will again :) ) I don't really like it that much anyway. I know I should be drinking a lot more water than I do though. :)

I don't add ice to mine, I seem to drink more if it's not really cold. Try adding a slice of lemon/lime or orange to yours. Also don't try drinking so much at one time...keep a little glass by your sink and everytime you walk by, fill it up and drink it.

I'll have to try it with the lemon/lime... otherwise it just doesn't work for me. I can't drink even halfway warm water at all... ugh!!! It's got to pretty much be on the cold side... 8o Thanks for the idea's...

Maybe you just need to find a brand of water that you like (and add the lemon/lime or ornage like Ann suggested). I can not drink tap water- it makes me gag. My mom has a reverse osmosis water system at her house and you really can taste the difference. There are some bottled waters that actually contain sodium and I can usually taste the difference and don't like them. I currently have bottled water delivered to my house and it tastes good.

I think that it being tap water might be my problem. I'm SO glad to hear that I'm not the only one who gags on it. LOL I have a real hard time taking my vitamines each/every morning and usually end it with a big gag. Ugh!!! Disgusting... 8o I'm going to try adding the lemon/lime and see how that works but if it doesn't help I think I might just stick to the bottled water. :)

Ok!! You made me get up on my broken foot and get a glass of water!! LOLOL.

I know that I don't drink enough water. I am like Diane. The sink stuff makes me gage!! We have bottled water delivered.

Question: I definately like filtered water over the spring water. What do y'all like???

I've never been a Coke fan or any soda for that matter, but that is just plain gross.
We did an experiment in school when I was young, cleaning pennies.
The pennies in vinigar turned green, the pennies in water didn't change and the pennies in coke became very dull, and the pictures started corroding. This just after a few days. Leave it longer they may have totally dissappeared.

i don't know if its still true, but in the past the regulations on bottled water are pretty much nil compared to municipalities...
