Kind of a busy weekend. Both dks have baseball games today. It's also team picture day. We have oldest ds' cub scout advancement ceremony tonight (he's moving from wolf...to bear, I think! LOL I know it's yellow neckerchief...to light blue neckerchief!). Tomorrow we are going to BIL's for lunch, and then one ds has a makeup baseball game in the late afternoon. Hope you all have a terrific weekend. It's been COLD here the past few days...Yesterday's high temp was 48 degrees. BRRRRR.

Karla isn't it a nice feeling when the house is so quiet :)
I'm just catching up on my e-mails, the dks are upstairs playing and dh is still sleeping
Now I'm going to get changed and off I go to Curves for my workout :yippee: After that I 'm heading of to a children's resale store, to try to sell some more of my stuff.
No other plans for me today....still debating whether or not to go buy my flowers (this is usually a huge planting weekend here) the weather has been so crazy
Have a great day everyone

It's cold and rainy today...just looks and feels yucky. Dd1 has her prom tonight. It's been an exciting few weeks getting ready. Her plans have changed about 6-7 times a day, but I think she's headed toward a final scheduling plan. Her date is a really nice kid, so it should be a good time. I have to take pictures, and looking out the window, I know it'll have to be inside. So I'm getting some cleaning done. Hope you all have a good day.
A front came through with a ton of rain yesterday and it's only going to be about 75 today!
DD had a friend spend the night (the little girl down the street who is like my other daugther). We all just woke up!
Mary, yep..it's Wolf to Bear (he must be going into 3rd grade next year!)
I think it's so funny that everyone is still having b-ball..we are almost done.
Just chilling out today, dd has a swim birthday party tonite and another mom and I are going across the street to a Mex restaraunt and have dinner and a few ritas! ;)

Good Morning!
I was up bright and early after a late night from the wedding, which was a loooooooooooong affair!!
We are off to see the Lipazzaners and then when we get back home maybe a movie for dh and I.
I have DianeP's grasshopper pie in my freezer setting for our bar b que with friends tomorrow night, it looks delicious, never had it before, but with that many oreo's in it, it must be good :)
Marla we are holding off on planting too, just too damp and cool lately. We need some sunshine!!!
Cathy hope your dd has fun at her prom, how exciting!
Have a great weekend all!
Prom was last weekend here, we cruised around looking at all the parents taking pics out front! LOL
What does your dd's dress look like, Cathy? What are their plans?
Cathy

Her dress is pale yellow taffeta under white/cream lace. It has some criss-cross straps in the back. I'm no good at describing things.... She does look beautiful (and too grown up to have such a young mother! LOL). Her plans? Well, she hasn't awakened yet, so I'm not sure what dream revelation will have to be accomodated, but when I went to bed last night the plans were:
drive her friend to hair appointment, come home and have her hair done by dd3 (who displays a talent that definitely didn't come from my gene pool!) because she spent too much $$ already, and won't pay to have her hair done; have make-up done at another friend's house; come home for dressing; have pictures taken by me, her father, and her date's mom (I think); dinner with another couple; actual prom; over to yet another friend's house to change; bowling (??); coffee and dessert; home. I'm tired aren't you?
Dd and I are doing our March of Dimes walk this morning and ds has a b-day party. Dh will just be bored in the house! I did rent him some movies though.
Dh's appt went ok yesterday (I suppose). He's been refered to the "pain clinic" to get epidural steroid shots in this back. The only problem is that they do not have an appt. for him until mid-June. (gotta love the military  ) He's got a referal in to be seen off-base to see if he can get this treatment started earlier. Hopefully we should find out early next week if it's been approved and when he can get an appt. If the shots to not work to relieve the swelling and relieve the pain, then we will be back in ortho talking about surgery.

Jen, I'm sorry he has to go through this. How's he holding up mentally. And how about you?? Hope the shots help a lot!!
Dd is off to the prom. They looked so nice. I hope they have fun, and that they act like the responsible quasi-adults that they are!! Now I get to stay up (sort of) all night worrying..... At least I've got a good book! LOL
Dh and I had a fun day. SIL watched the kids and we went out for the day. We bought cell phones, (finally) looked for a bed frame for ds#2 who is no longer in the crib:( It was too cold to do anything outside so we went out for dinner. Dh wanted to go to Star Wars but I didn't want to wait in line. The funny part of the day was showing up at the neighbors with ds for a birthday party, only to have the neighbor tell us the party is tomorrow! Thank goodness she's one of my best friends and we just laughed, I would have been really embarrassed had it been someone that I don't know as well.

Cathy - did you dd get home okay? Hope so - the trend around here seems to be - go to dinner, go to prom, then stay out all night and then breakfast at a person's house - then sleep the rest of the weekend! lol I hope it's different when my dd goes... but if not, I want to be the all-nighter/breakfast house!!!
Our recital marathon is over - and dd LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT! I cried everytime she danced (3 performances). She received a good many compliments and was very proud of herself. Not once did she show any signs of being nervous - she didn't get that confidence from her mom, that's for sure! :)
I picked up pink baby roses for dh to give her and she also received a tap trophy that she wanted to sleep with! Bless her heart.
This is SOOOOO tacky of me, but do you ever wonder if some of those kids on stage ever attended the classes???? Some of them just stand there and others are totally in their own little world.
ROFL Jen...that's the part that is fun, watching the deer in the headlights. DD's is June 4, and it's not on this side of town but dowtown at one of the university's theaters :( I may get a hotel for the day and the let dd swim after dress rehearsal rather than fighting traffic and turning right back and coming there again.
Prom here was going to the beach for the weekend...great fun!

Hope you enjoyed your quiet time. That's why I have always set my alarm clock for anywhere between 30 to 45 minutes earlier than anyone else. LOL LOVE that quiet time before the "storm" hits. LOL

She got home fine, and yes she's still sleeping! I have to get her up pretty soon for Mass though. I don't think she'll be doing much this afternoon. LOL I'm tired, but everything went well. She was surprised that I was up when she got back.....20 minutes late. But I'm not complaining since she did the driving and had to drop everyone off. I trust her more than most of the other kids.
We have to do it all again in 2 weeks, because she's going to Senior Ball with the same guy. They'll be doing a breakfast then, so I'll get to sleep.:)
There is a Senior Prom and Senior Ball?????????
Glad she had fun, and that you aren't too exhausted!

Bummer about such of a late appointment... mid June would be an awfully long time to have to wait, especially when you're in that much pain. 8o 8o We'll keep our fingers crossed that he'll be able to get in earlier at the off-base clinic :\ and say lots of prayers that it will relieve the swelling and relieve the pain, and then he won't have to have the surgery. :) Keep us updated as to how everything is going. :)

LOL... I cried each and every time my dd went up on stage... there's just something about watching them up there giving it there all. :bawling:
My youngest dd was in dance classes for years and each and every one of those years there were those girls... who seldom ever showed up for their classes, who didn't know the dance. It didn't seem fair that they were even allowed to be a part of the recitals... because all they did was make the rest of the group look bad. You'd think it would embarrass them that they didn't know the dance/steps. It also made me wonder why they would sign up for classes each and every year when it was so obvious that they really didn't want to be there. 8o
Congratulations on her trophy... too cute about wanting to sleep with it. :) I'm glad she had a good time!

Wow... Senior Ball too? Is she planning on wearing the same dress? 8o We've only got prom here... otherwise it would get way too expensive. :) Twenty minutes isn't the end of the world... at least she came home. Around here a lot of the girls/dates get a hotel... 8o 8o 8o without the parents knowing what they're planning, they just don't come home. I'd KILL my dd's if they had ever pulled anything like that!!! I'm glad she had a good time. :)

Diane, our school talent show was last week. The very first act was a third grade class with one of my former students who has CP and a host of other problems singing his favorite song. He was up front with the mic with his class on the risers behind him as he sang I Believe I Can Fly . I cried so hard, I ruined my makeup for the day. Then had to go hug mom, dad and gm. After the show I caught him in the hall and he nearly knocked me over when he hugged me. Talk about being so proud.
OMG!!!!!! kat, I am boo hooing just reading your post!!!!!!!! How incredibly touching!!!
