I am getting all kinds of ridiculous emails from all kinds of companys I have never heard of. I email them to remove me then get failure to deliver notices. How do I get them to stop sending these emails??

I don't know that you can. That's why I have two hotmail addresses...one that I use when traveling and one that I use exclusively for registering at sites (many people sell your e-mail address and it can end up on many lists in the end). I get 50-100 spam e-mails a day at my one hotmail account. And they can somehow alter the "from" address so that it's fake. I've written to Hotmail about it and get this form letter suggesting precautions to take to avoid it.

And all the filters don't help. You can put them as "block sender", but after having 250 addresses on my list, I realized that you never get more than one from the same address. They are either fake or they keep getting new accounts. You can make a list of e-mail addresses from which you will only receive mail, but then if an address isn't on it, you won't get that mail.

This is a huge pet peeve of mine (as you know!) so I'll just shut up now before I really start to rant! ;)

K...had to edit this to add something! LOL! This is also why I don't care for those "forwards" that people send to everyone on their list. I've had e-mails that contained over 100 addresses and I found out that there are people who are paid to extract those addresses from forwards to sell to people. And you can be polite and delete all the addresses before you, but that doesn't mean that your address won't show up on e-mails forwarded by the people you send it to.

Ok...I'm zipping my lip. Again! LOL!

Thanks for the response. I pretty much figured that I wouldn't be able to do anything about it, but the thing is I am not registered at very many sites, maybe three or four. I guess I will just continue to delete them as they come in. Thanks again.

Kathy, something you might try is contacting your service provider...maybe they can see the ip of the sender and block future mail from it? I'm not sure how that works, but it's worth reporting it.

When I get stuff like that I just automatically go down and check/delete it right away... I don't even bother opening it up because over half of it is porn and the other half isn't anything worth opening either. LOL I tried doing the "block sender" also and found that I was still getting the same stuff over and over again but with a similar but different address. Ugh!!! So I guess were just stuck with it! LOL :)

Ugh! Isn't it just a pain? I only get it at my hotmail address and at that addy I get a TON - most of it inappropriate! I am very careful with who gets our "home" address and so far we haven't had any problems with that one.

I too had a hotmail account, and all I ever got there was Dirty email sites...even the block thing didn't really discourage them....I have had Yahoo for 5 years and I love it....I rarely get spammed, and when I do block them, they stay blocked...No I don't work for Yahoo. I just have been really happy with them....

I've never had hotmail but I do have Yahoo and I get TONS of it all the time. I've done the blocking and everything else too but it doesn't work. I think were just STUCK with it. LOL If anybody finds out a way to block it all out, please let me know. :) Thanks!
