Phonics instruction

I am a new teacher and will be teaching (hopefully!) primary this year. I am presently trying to compile a list of "phonic diddies" to help students remember phonics rules. Example: "i before e except after c". Can you help me? Thank you. Cristine

i teach primary (primary - 1 which is first grade). i use this .... when two vowels go walking the first one usually does the talking. i use a hand motion so kids will remember. use two fingers for vowels then turn those two fingers into a walking motion then for talking use your thumb and four fingers to make a talking gesture. kids love it with all the hand/finger motions.
