You might try Vanguard Airlines:

They only go to certain cities, but they are usually reasonably priced.
Travelocity will suggest a different airport (might be 80 miles away) if it's cheaper to fly into it.

Wow! Not surprised though. Traveling abroad might be cheaper. Friends of ours went to London, England over spring break. Their tickets were $298.00 a piece round trip. They got theirs through travelosity. They just lucked into those prices. They were online researching for their daughter's castle project and stumbled across that deal. Her dh said if you are right and that's the price, book us. She was, it was, she did. They had a great time.
I guess you just have to be at the right place at the right time.
Im a happy camper. I just bought my from Colorado Springs to Rochester this summer for $766.00. I always go to Travelocity for prices and than order directly through the airline. BUT, this time I bought them online because Travelocity had a promotional fare and better flights through them. Im flying Delta and they had companion fares for the kids. my ticket was $379.00 and the kids were $195.00. That is ecellent for traveling West to East. Are you flying out of Syracuse? Sometimes you get a beet flight if you fly out of Canada. Check out Travelocity and they will give you best fares option if your travel dates are flexible.
For the links, I am sending this stuff to my father and his wife, let them figure it out...what a pain in the butt...LOL....I am still looking into it myself,
how come it has to cost so much....
