I won't bore you with EVERYTHING that I'm putting in the kids' baskets, but I am havng fun finding stuff. I've got way too much for the 3 year old, I've really got to catch the older boys up. I found some candy bar factory kits at Walgreens that I couldn't resist, and Target had adorable little lip gloss rings and tiny Easter nail polish. The lip gloss and nail polish are for my nieces - I'll put them in plastic eggs for our egg hunt. I got gel pens for the nephews' egg prizes. Oh, and somebody on this board (can't remember who, but thanks!) bought some of those hand held fans with the foam blades for her kids. I found those at Target too, and bought each of my kids one of those. I thought they'd come in handy at Six Flags this summer. The ones I got hold water too. So, what's everybody else getting?
ROLF..I was thinking "what are your boys doing with lip gloss and nail polish?" LOL
I will do something, but we don't make a huge deal out of the baskets. We do have a big Easter egg hunt for the family and cousins on Easter day.

I just love those lip gloss rings Target has. Walmart had some lip gloss watches. I am not finished with easter shopping but I did decide not to put things in a basket. I am going to buy those little adirondack chairs for kids and put some grass in the seat with some goodies. I just hate buying those baskets every year! Lots of cute things out there!!

I am still trying to figure out when and how the Easter bunny is gonna do it this year! LOL! We fly home from FL on Easter and our flight doesn't get in until 11 p.m. I don't want to drag Easter stuff to FL bcuz I need the suitcase space. Ds also wants a egg hunt like we do every year, so I am going to try to hide eggs inside before we leave on the slim chance that he would be awake when we get home. I'm thinking the Easter Bunny may just come here before we leave, but I don't know. I haven't really bought anything for their baskets yet, I have been too focused on buying stuff for the plane. I need to get shopping!

I send my friends kids stuff for Easter every year. I usually try not to get a basket though, because what do you do with them when you are finished. I bought cute animal backpacks this year. I am probably going to put a few pieces of candy and maybe a few knicknacs in them. I really haven't decided yet either. LOL!

My 4 yr old is getting mainly art stuff- modeling clay, finger paints, playdoh, crazy scissors and then of course some candy and his present will be this crazy bubble maker for outside- it supposedly makes HUGE bubbles
My 20 month old is getting pop up books, 2 large wooden puzzles and this lawnmower that makes bubbles.
Leigh, we use the same basket each year. Nobody notices, as we hide them away after Easter.
Ann, my son LOVES lip gloss and nail polish! We have a blast painting our nails together. (It's also kind of a hip thing among the older boys. It has to be "manly" colors, though, like purple, green, or black.)
We ALWAYS include a toothbrush and tooth paste when candy is involved.
Great ideas from everyone. I can't wait to go shopping for junk! Each year we spend a week with my Mom and some friends at the Oregon coast at this beach house. We do our egg hunt there. It's become a really fun tradition. This year my sister is coming out from NY. Can't wait!

Great ideas from everyone. My kids are getting a little too old, but we still have a big egg hunt at MIL's. We also do something for the older ones - a treasure hunt with clues or hide a folded twenty in plain sight, but it is always so hard to find. My BIL always hides $100.00 worth of Susan B Anthony dollars all over the huge yard. If they are in plain sight, they are for the little ones; those really hidden are for anyone. It is so much fun to do this when the day is sunny. I get such a kick out of watching my FIL look for them and try to sneak a few in his pocket. LOL! This mortifies MIL. The other adults are trying to help the little ones. We usually never find them all and then the rest of the year the kids stay in the yard trying to find any leftovers.

I also try to pick up small items during the time after Christmas. I also like to put in a video...maybe "Rugrats in Paris" this year. Our Easter Bunny doesn't leave much candy...but more small goodies like toothbrushes, matchbox cars, pokemon cards, etc. We also use the same baskets year after year...and leave them by the front door so that the Easter Bunny can fill them when he arrives! I can't imagine buying new baskets each year!

We use the same baskets every year, too. I actually got ours at Target one year after Easter so they were clearanced out. :) The kids don't notice and if they did say anything I would just say we leave them out for the Easter Bunny like we leave Christmas stockings out for Santa - they bring the treats with them. :) I am also going to give very little candy and more trinket like things this year.

Not much junk food in the baskets at our house. Usually just one choc. bunny and a few jelly beans. They get more of that stuff later in the day. Like a few have posted, we get new toothbrushes, toothpaste, fancy little notepads and crayons you can find in a dollar store, sidewalk chalk, sunglasses, and a few things like that. The local park by my Mothers place always has an Easter party. They Rotary Club sponsers a duck race, where everyone can purchase a duck for a dollar and the first, 25th, 50th, and last duck to cross the finish line wins a prize. The money goes to pay for the other treats they get throuout the day and improvements and repairs to the park. They have an egg hunt, visit from the Easter bunny, face painting, races, and lots of fun activities to participate in. It always lots of fun.
The grandparents always buy a few treats. My Mom usually gets them each a new outfit to wear - just something casual that they will get more wear out of. Last year dd requested that Grammy took her to get her ears pierced instead of an outfit. Of course Grammy being the Grammy she is did both.
dd Godmother gave her an umbrella last year, which she thought was the greatest. It was just a plain black unbrella but she also recieved a package of several colors of fabric paint and was able to decorate the unbrella any way she liked. She loves going for a walk with it when it rains and showing off her handy work.
We aren't too big on chocolate and candy at Easter. We give a little, but we put loonies (our Cdn. $) in a bunch of those plastic eggs and hide them around the house. We also buy a new piece of clothing...this year it will be a pair of pants or shorts. DH also wants to get DS a new baseball bag, but he needs that anyway, it just happens to be a good time to buy it, LOL.

As old as my own kids are... they STILL like getting an easter basket. As a matter of fact I still hide them and when they wake up in the morning they have to hunt and find them. LOL I also still have an easter egg hunt with them and whoever finds the most gets a prize. My oldest dd (seeing she doesn't live at home) doesn't join in on the easter egg hunt but will still come later to find her basket. I NEVER buy new baskets. A few years ago I bought some on clearance after Easter so got them more than 1/2 off. Last year I even bought my dd's boyfriend an Easter basket and he got a big kick out of that. I noticed that a few weeks ago he returned the basket... I'm sure expecting it to be used again this year. I mainly put candy in their's... not too much of anything else to put in them at their age. LOL
As for my dck's I always make them each up some sort of a basket. This year I found a bunch of cute little wire Easter Bunny Baskets at the dollar store. I put a little bit of Easter grass/candy in those along with a little stuffed bunny or duck (Target for $1.99) but lean more towards little trinket type things. (also found at the dollar store) I also bought them each an Easter coloring book along with a 16 pack of colors. When you're buying for 11 children it gets expensive but I think they all go home happy about everything they've gotten... at least I hope they are. LOL

Yeah I guess if it is your kids you can reuse the baskets. I will probably do that when I have kids. That is what my mom did too, but then again we did not do the Easter bunny thing. My mom took me to the store, and I got to pick out a few things, and then as a family project, we made my Easter basket. I can't reuse the baskets that I send my friends kids because they would have to mail them back to me each year, and they get baskets from the Easter bunny at their house, so I don't mind giving them something else, so they don't get two baskets.

Leigh, my kids have had the same baskets since their first Easter. Even grumpy old ds is sentimental about his! LOL

My son's each have an Easter basket that my Mom made for them. They're covered in padding and cloth. The two older boys have a sports print, and the youngest's is plaid.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I can give my 12 yo old nephew/godson for Easter??? I am blanking out. I want to spend around $15 and would like to give him something fun. He leaves for TX right before Easter, so I'll give him his basket early. He has a million cd's, so I'd like to skip giving him another. What do boys this age like????

Uhmmm...let's see...nothing! LOL! That is a tough age. My 12 y o ds collects the Tech Deck skateboards (those mini ones). Money's good. My ds is also into Abercrombie and Fitch. Their hats are about $15 and you could order him one online.

We use the same baskets every year. I set them out on the table with the grass already in and *the bunny* fills them and hides them. Just a twist on Christmas stockings. Plus I've started setting out something for family candy. Growing up, we had an oversided pink egg that was filled by the Easter bunny for mom and dad. If we had problems finding our own basket we may get something from the egg to tide us over until we found ours. One year we had clues to help us find out basket like a treasure hunt. It was really fun!
Anyways, we tend to get the kids each a game and a movie and a little bit of candy. This year we will vary from that. I bought those Pokemon trivia books that come with a 3-D card. Each kid will get them. Since DD doesn't read yet, I'm going to encourage DS to read the questions from both of their books out loud while we are driving to the in-laws. Then they each will get their own cards. DS is getting a super squirter also. He's becoming very hard to get things for! DD will probably get Rugrats in Paris. I've held off on her movie because we were going to watch 102 Dalmations and The Emperor's New Grove yet. We found Rugrats the best of the bunch.
