View Full Version : How do you know if it's broken??

besides x-rays and actually seeing a doctor?? I know....LOL
I jammed my finger trying to steal a basketball during little game last night. I can bend it without too much pain, except that it's pretty swollen, so it won't bend all the way. It doesn't hurt if it's resting... I don't think it could be broken, really, but what would you do to get the swelling down?? It's just kind of ugly.
The price of acting like Michael Jordan without the conditioning!! or the WIND for that matter.......
Usually, if you can't move it and it's really swollen, that means it's broken. Go get it checked!

Ow! :\ I agree with Ann - go get it checked out! Hope you're feeling better soon!! And, if you won't go to the dr - ice it and take Motrin. :)
1st go see your doctor.....
if your not going to see your doctor...get two popcycle sticks...and splint your finger with medical tape and keep it straight....
I would go see the doctor though..;)

I'm thinking that as long as you can still bend it and it's only swullen... it might just be sprained. I've done that S8o many times it isn't even funny. You might want to soak it in cold (ice) water for the swelling. :) If you feel uncomfortable or unsure... then go to the doctor's. :) Good luck!!!

Ok, I caved in and went to the doctor. They sent me for an x-ray, and it's a chip fracture. I now have a splint and have my middle and ring fingers taped together for 10 days. I feel a bit sheepish....and I didn't even get the steal!!
Can't believe the dr said come right now, and didn't even give me time to change my mind!! Seems almost like they know me.
I wondered what happened to you.....glad your fixed up...no more Michael Jordon moves for you....

Cathy, glad to hear that you went to the doctor. I hope it feels better soon. Didn't the doctor say that you couldn't do any dishes or make any meals?????? ;)
