Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone has had a c section recently. And if so what can I expect? I may have to have one and am a little nervous about it.

The reason for having one is that the baby is laying sideways and hasn't moved yet, so its a real posibilty that it may not, on the other hand it just may.

TIA

I've had 2. One in '97 and one in '99. I honestly did not think it was that bad. Recovery is longer and it would be helpful for you if you maybe had someone who could be home with you the first week, especially since you have dks. Angie just had one 2 months ago with her little girl, so she can help you out, too. If you have any specific questions, ask away - I'd be glad to help in any way I can. :)

Oh, and I think it's best to get up and walk as soon as they let/want you to after the surgery. Of course being careful not to overdo it, but the more you walk I think you feel better faster.

Ronda, I had one in '96 and I can ditto what Karla said - my mom moved in for a week b/c I could only go downstairs once and upstairs once a day and it was 6 weeks before I could drive.

If you have any questions, I too, would be more than happy to help if I can. I can tell you this: you'll be amazed at how many things you do that use your ab muscles!! lol

Yep, one in 96, 98 and 02! Get up and move as fast as you can. Get the catheter out asap also. You will need help for definately the first week, two if you can get it. I was pretty much on the go after the first week this time, but I pushed myself a little too hard and had to slow down the second week. Take the drugs they give you on time, don't try to do without because it will take alot longer for you to get comfortable again. In the hospital it is easier for you to get in and out of bed because you can raise and recline the bed. When you get home it will take alot just to get out of bed.

Do you want play by play for before the surgery, during and after? Just let us know how much you want to know?

When I had my first c-section he was a breech and the babies usually turn before delivery. Breech c-sections only happen 2% of the time is the stat they gave me. Are they going to try and turn your baby? Where is your placenta?

Thanks everyone.

Not sure if they are going to to the baby or not, they havent said yet. I will probably go for another ultra sound in September or so. And I think the placenta is directly underneath the baby, though I am not totally sure. I forgot to ask my last appoinment, but I am going to be sure to ask on the next one.
