Growing up, we did. In fact, my mom still does, she still lives in the same neighborhood. I wouldn't unless I knew the people/person really well. It's kinda freaky to think about, ya know?!!
Sure! At least 3 of my neighbors have my keys, and I have 2.
very cool, I hope when we fianlly get our own home we can have a neighborhood like that....

I have 4 of my neighbor's key's... and only one has mine. We've lived in this neighborhood for 23 years so... I guess I've more than earned everyone's trust by now. LOL We've just recently gotten a new bunch of neighbor's... and I probably wouldn't even consider leaving a key with them. (they all seem kind of "different") 8o 8o 8o Every summer I take care of one of our neighbor's house... water their plants and whatever else needs to be done. It feels good to be trusted...

Dh and I are the only ones with keys to our house right now, but that is only because I haven't had any others made. When I do, I will give my mom one just in case, but I wouldn't give someone that I didn't know a key just because they were my neighbor. I would have to know them very well. :D
My parents, my oldest ds, and one neighbor has our keys and we have theirs.

We don't have nor have given out any keys to neighbors. We all have immediate family (parents/kids) in the area, so it's never been an issue.

You mean you all lock your houses???8o
LOL- we do lock ours at night and when we leave on trips, but with my folks and other family living close by it'd be hard for someone to go unnoticed.
We don't have anyone else's house keys and except for maybe my mom, no one has a set of our keys.

We've only been here a year, so we haven't exchanged keys with anyone. My mom has a key to our house and I have always thought it would be a good idea for a neighbor to have one, too. There are a couple neighbors that I could see giving a key to and would trust. :)

We have those garage entry codes. Even if we know someone is out and find we need something...egg, sugar, milk, etc, we will just go after it. We also know what each other is doing pretty much everyday so we look out for each other. I guess you could call it nosey, but it makes me feel very safe.

We do the garage code thing, also! We have the neighbor's garage code...and when they are on vacation, we take care of their bird, plants, take the garbage cans out, etc. They do the same for us! Once, the neighbor needed something taken out of her freezer (thaw?? something like that) so she called me, I ran over...and pulled it out for her. Kind of handy! We never go in without being asked to. I feel good knowing that someone can get in here (a trusting neighbor) if needed! (We all hide a key (location given to the neighbor!!) inside the garage, so that they can actually get into the house!)

Ok maybe it's because we're NY'ers but I would never trust my neighbors with a key... Don't even know most of them at all. Some I know from when I was a kids but don't really socialize. We even make sure car is locked most of time.
When I was upstate near CT it was alittle more laid back. We were not so concerned about locking things....LOL. I used to leave my keys in the car so I did not forget them in work. My dad was always yelling at me cause it took awhile to get out of the habit when I move back here.
Can't wait to move back upstate (6 months)!!!!!!!!!

I don't keep keys for the neighbors unless they ask me. I have had keys before while they are on vacation, but returned them when they got back.
We have given ours to a neighbor while we were gone, but also received them back upon the return of the trip.
This next trip, I am farming the birds to the neighbor's house, but will not leave them with a key. They will pick up the mail, water the yard and take care of the cat. All stuff outside.
We are good friends with our neighbors just don't bother with the key business, I guess.
