OK
I'm planning to move out of state around January....How early do you suggest I start sending out my resume.

I have started serching for jobs and there are a few Ideas but nothing really specific.

Is it way too early ....I am planning a trip to visit up there at the end of the month for two weeks.... I will be doing some apartment investigating.

I'll take any suggestions you have...oh and if you know of any good resume sites that would be great...My resume stinks...I think!

Thanks Vea

First, good luck! Sounds exciting! As far as the resume, if you have windows, go to Start, Find and type in resume and search your computer. There are several good templates to use. And, I think monster.com has a resume builder you can use for free. Probably any of the job search sites will have resume templates... hotjobs.com is the only other one I can think of at the moment.
It may be a little early to start sending out resumes, but, it could work to your advantage, too. If I were you, I'd state my relocation timeline in my cover letter. On one hand, sending your resume now could mean you have an advatage. But you may want to give yourself a reminder to follow up with the company in November or so to make sure you haven't gotten lost in the shuffle.
Again, good luck! Keep us posted on your progress!!

Amy ~ Thanks alot for the advice....Monster.com looks good for resume help.

I also figured it was alittle early....I'm just afraid of waiting too long maybe in Sept. I'll start sending them out....I like your suggestion for stating my relocation time in cover letter.

Please keep the suggestions comming if you have any....I still don't know what I want to really apply for other then a Day care Director...But money will be a major issue and I don't think I'll get what I need in Daycare.

When I was in college we were told to start putting out resumes while we were student teaching (our last semester) This was about 13 years ago however. I can remember putting something to the effect that I would be graduating from ______ in May and what kind of position I was interested in.

Good luck in your search!

You're welcome! Hope some of it is useful! I also have a list of interview questions that are pretty common in my company. They may help you, too, though. If you want me to print them, let me know, they're on a disc at work that I can get tomorrow. Unfortunately, I think you're right about Daycare centers. But do some job searches on the net and see what you can come up with. Go to google.com and put in job searches, or job hunting or employment opportunities. You may get lucky. And, even if you find a place who has a job opening, but it's not what you're looking for, go ahead and send in your resume and cover letter in case something you're interested comes open.
