View Full Version : Keeping a food diary
Anyone try this? I'm not one to limit the types of food I eat, but I know i eat more than I'm aware of (little bites here and there). I decided to keep a diary to show what I was eating and to rate how hungry I was when I ate it. It forces you to be aware, which is a huge shock to someone who eats mindlessly. :)

I have never done it, but just recently was seriously thinking about it. I know the little bites of this and that add up to more than I think and I'd like to actually see just how much I am eating in a day. I think by writing it down I might actually limit it a little more. :)
Have you been doing the diary for a while? Do you think it has helped??
I just started today. LOL I have been thinking about it for a long time too, but for some reason, I never wanted to really do it. I think subconciously I didn't want to know how much I ate. That would mean I would have to take responsibility for the "bored" eating-couple marshmellows here or a couple of handfuls of raisianettes there. I actually put something away today because when I reached for something to eat, I realized I didn't want it on the paper because I wasn't even hungry.
The key is you have to write everything down. I ate 1/3 of a leftover of dd's chicken burrito while I was talking on the phone. I HATED putting that down because I ate without thinking, but I made my lunch much lighter because of it.

Good luck girls! :) I agree - it's tough to "see" what you've just eaten --- that's the basic WW plan I'm doing. Unfortunately, I've gotten out of the habit of writing everything down! lol I've been keeping track in my head for the most part (luckily, haven't gained yet...). Anyway, it'll work! :)
