Ok..I've decided I've been eating way too much since I moved into dad's. He's always coming home with junk food. Ok I can't really control that.
The question is ...
Do you have any suggestion for some low calories snacks...along the sweet side?
I've been haveing a very large sweet tooth. I was thinking of buying chex mix but have not looked yet at the nutrienal values.
I was also thinking of buying some cherrieos or something to munch on... I used to do that when I lives alone...it kept me away from the cookies etc.
Ok I'm babbling....sorry...thanks for the help!

A yummy treat idea I got from here was to put fat free Cool Whip in between chocolate graham crackers and freeze them.
Edy's makes a yummy frozen fruit bar thing. My fav is strawberry and they are only 80 calories. :licklips:
I also buy caramel rice cakes or caramel popcorn cakes. Some people cannot stand these, but I don't mind them. :)
For a salty treat I eat fat free pretzels or WOW Chips with lite or fat free dip.

hello i just came accross this board and wondered if anybody could help me. I have 2 daughters aged 5.5yrs old and 1.5 yrs old and am having problems in feeding my 5.5 yr old. I have been having feeding problems for 3 yrs and she just wont eat. I feed her things she enjoys but that dont help either. Breakfast takes 4 hours to finish she just plays with her food and complains of every ache and pain possible whenever it comes to food. Tried force feeding her, leaving her hungry and hoping she eats the next meal, tried making a play with her food making meal times fun but that dont help either. For 3 yrs she has not gained weight or grew at all and weighs 13.5 kg. Taken her to all doctors and hospitals where she has been checked for everything and they say she is just fine a bit small and underweight for her age but she will grow out of it. She has even got to the stage where she starts to make herself sick at mealtimes. She just wont eat at all. Give her vitamins and she snacks when i am not around and will binge on biscuits and crisps when she finds them. My 1.5 yr old is fine no problems at all. Please any help will be appreciated as i am at my witts end and have tried everything possible
any ideas can be emailed to me at sevdaacik@hotmail.com as well as any urls anything will be appreciated thank you

Vea, I drink Crystal Lite lemonade and I love it--and it counts as water.
My chocolate calcium chews and protein bars take care of the sweet craving for me. Maybe you could cut up strawberries in some of that low-fat cool whip?

Sevda, my cousin has this same problem with her 6 yo dd and I'm convinced that she's created it by being obsessive about it. I've seen her not allow her daughter to have a piece of cheese for a snack for fear of "spoiling her dinner". I've seen her send her dh out to get a McDonald burger for their dd because "that's all she'll eat!". There's a fight at mealtimes and her dd will sit and sit and sit.
I firmly believe that a child will not starve herself if there aren't medical or emotional/control issues involved. The medical aspect has been ruled out by your doctor and hospitals--if they don't see a problem, I wouldn't worry about malnutrition at this point. It really sounds like it's become a power struggle between the two of you. Have you seriously tried to say nothing--not a word?

You know I've also seen this sort of eating problem with one or two daycare kids. The one mother was so obsessive about it. She would send in enough food for 2 adults and expect him to eat it. He all of a sudden stopped eating and it lasted for a very long time. He also started to make himself throw up. We finally convinced her to trust us and try not to make a big deal out of it. I would let him pick what he wanted to eat and let it go at that. After a while he started to eat again.
I honestly believe that this chilld I had was embarrassed by the whole situation and that is why he stopped eatting. As soon as it was not a topic of discusssion, he began to eat.
I also had the same experience with a 5 year old who would not go to bathroom. As soon as I convinced everyone not to make a big deal out of it. The little girle and I were able to make an agreement that she could go potty without having to announce it. And that she could close the door she was fine.
Ok this is really long sorry!!!!!!
Good luck!

Mikey~ How are those protein bars....are they really health....I'm afraid of any of those slim fast things. My sister got really sick on slimfast! Is there anything in them to worry about?
I don't like lemodade ....lol....I've been watering down friut punch which I know is not really good. But oh well. I'll have to keep looking! Maybe I'll try some other crystal light.
Thanks!

Vea, I eat the protein bars for protein because I can't eat enough protein via food since I had the gastric bypass. Wouldn't do slimfast either again (did it years ago) as all the energy/calories are from carbs and carbs aren't good for me.
Crystal Lite has many flavors--a friend of mine loves the iced tea and they have raspberry, punch and other ones, too.

Jeff, I've tried so many and the only ones with a decent amount of protein (14 grams) that taste ok enough to eat (imo) aren't low carb--they are the Genisoy ones. The Peanut Fudge and Fudge Brownie ones are my favorite. Tried the peanutbutter yogurt and they are way too sweet for me. Heard the chocolate mint crisp ones are good, but haven't tried them yet.
