If you do, what types do you do?

I had a friend that used to go to Wal-Mart, get about 20 plastic bags full of groceries and then proceed to through all the bags in the trash. That totally flipped me out!

We have curb-side recycling here and recycle plastics (1 &2), newspapers and magazines and cans. We also go as far to seek out places to recycle plastic bags, glass and cardboard (they have this on base). I know NY has a really good recyling program and can't wait to be a part of it.

We have curbside pick up here. We put out our milk and juice containers and soup cans. We save pop cans and dks go out for lunch with dh with the $ from those when they take them in. :) We don't get newspaper delivery - I buy the wknd paper and save those for when we have a fire. I also recycle the plastic and paper bags from stores. And, I take magazines to the libraries and put them in the magazine exchange bins. :)

I think I picked up all of these habits from my mom who is a big recycler. :thumb:

Yes, we also have curbside recycling. For glass and plastic the neck has to be smaller then the body. We have one bin for newpapers, one for mixed papers, and one for glass/ plastic/ metal. Labels off and washed. Cardboard is bundled or bagged on the side. We also have yard debrie pickup. Until we put the house up for sale I was composting the food I could. Soda cans get turned in for a price per pound. Lately I've been giving them to a church that then turns them in. Bottles I give to the inlaws so they can get a deposit in OR (that I don't pay in WA). Paperbags either get recycled in the bin or used as craft paper. Plastic bags get used, taken to the used book store for her to use, or taken to the recycle container at nearly all grocery stores. Any items still useable (toys etc), I donate to one of 3 charities. In fact just today they came to the house to pick up a couple of boxes of hardback books from at work. Otherwise I have to go to drop items off.

I prefered the program in CA. They went off of the number for plastics and co-mingled.

We really don't have a choice, LOL. We have a very unique and special garbage collection where I live. Two different coloured SEE THROUGH bags must be used. A green one for "wet garbage", compostable, garbage, i.e. tea bags, food waste, dust/dryer fluff, virtually anything that can break down and compost. We have a blue bag for all "dry garbage", i.e. cardboard, plastic, glass, cans, paper, basically anything that can't break down. These are all separated at a wet/dry facility in our city. It's not the best system as some people just don't "get it", LOL or are too lazy. There is a pilot project being tested now in the city, for a three-bag garbage system...like that will ever work, LOL.

We have curbside recycling as well. Paper (separated), glass, plastic (bottles only), cardboard containers (milk type) and cans/foil mixed. We also put out corrugated cardboard and pizza boxes.

We recycled everything in Germany. In NC we recycled a lot, but not as much as in Germany. Here, we only recycle our newspaper and it's curbside p/u. I'm not even exactly sure what all they recycle here. (bad I know) I always reuse my grocery bags (plastic and paper).
