Wow, was it ever awesome!!
The scene: We met in an airplane hanger which had 2 planes and a car from the "era" of the movie. Ceiling fans all turning.
The food: incredible Moroccan chicken with apricot sauce, red roasted potato, salad, and baguettes with hummus, eggplant, feta, artichoke hearts, and olive oil for dipping.
During dinner we had the soundtrack of the movie playing and the mood was perfect. After eating we gave db his presents and dh read a poem he had written for him. We had cake and ice cream with strawberries. We turned down all the lights in the hanger and sat theater style in adirondack chairs with blankets and watched Casablanca on a big screen TV. The movie was wonderful and everyone had the best time.
AnnW - so funny, I kept thinking, AnnW said we should have palm fronds!!!
We can't wait to have another "theme party!"
What a fun party!!! I didn't realize that 31 garnered so much attention..what did he do for 30, or heaven forbid 40??? LOL
I will have to remember that one!
Wow!!!! How many people were there? Do you have any idea on how much a party like that would cost? Just out of curiosity. I think I could on vacation (for four people)with that much money. LOL

AnnW - We had intended on having this Casablanca night for a long time and it kept getting put off. We decided to combine it with db's birthday cuz we thought it would be fun. Although, all of our birthdays are a whole lot of fun. Mine is coming and I can't wait. We are taking a "tour bus" outlet shopping with a bunch of friends and family. Then getting together on Easter for the whole family party. This bus is incredible, it has 3 tv's, bedroom, bathroom with a shower, kitchen, it even has a washer and dryer. What a way to travel!!
Amy/Co - I don't know the cost - I imagine the food was around $200? We only had 9 adults as this was a childfree party. The planes and cars and stuff are already "in the family." We had ds's birthday at the same place in February and he got to go up for his first "plane ride." It wasn't his first time up in a plane really but in a small aircraft. Ds got nervous and said he had to potty so we would land. It was very memorable.
Angie..you are just going to be 30??? oh, I hate you!!! LOL
you have airplanes in the family??? will you adopt me??? LOL

Yes, airplanes in the family. If I were to adopt you it wouldn't do much more than you being my friend though! We are very much blessed.

AnnW - did you forget how old YOU are? :frog: Just a tad older than me, right? LOL
I could not take you on a ride myself, but I could get someone to take you up. As far as flying everyone to a reunion....btw, can we really call it a reunion when we've never really met?.......I think the largest plane only has a seating capacity of 4? maybe 6? I haven't seen that one. The coolest one is a little two seater aerobatics plane with red and white stripes.

Okay, so just how many planes does your family have? :) Good point about calling it a reunion?! LOL! And, as far as only fitting a few of us - can't they just make a lot of trips to get all of us?
I like your definition of a "tad"!!!!!!! LOL
ok..so the plane has to make a few trips..actually that makes sense since we are all over the country
of course it's a reunion..I have know ya'll for years just have seen you lately!!!!!!!!!!!! :newwink:

Before ya'll have this reunion, you better wait for me. I won't be in the states until June. Then Angie has my permission to come and pick me up. LOL! Maybe she could even meet me at the Jax airport. LOL!!
