View Full Version : OK, I haven't felt this way in years....argh
I am nervous about working today...not because I don't think I can handle it...nor because I haven't been in the job force for 7 years....LOL....but actually because its dh's place....you know...what if I embarrass him, or it causes friction because I am there now...argh...
its the perfect job for me...because of the hours and the money...
I just am so nervous like a kid....like the first day of school...talked with my boss last night...she doesn't think it will be a problems about dh...and then said who cares...I need you...so...I guess that is cool..but I still and nervous...
ok enough from me....I have to get dd ready for school and do something with my hair...which feels great...but is so FLAT...argh...bad hair day frist day of work...figures huh....:tearhair:

You can do it, Renee!! If they thought it would create problems they never would have hired you. It'll all be okay!! Can't wait to hear from you later and hear all about your first day!! :)
You can do this. If it does cause problem, you can always quit, but don't anticipate problems that aren't there!!!!

 lightbulb quote thanks....my boss is confident that things will be ok...since I will be in Accounting and dh's office is on the other side of the building....we won't see the same people much anyway....
ok I have changed three times....now I sit here in black walking shorts and a olive green tee shirt...dh's favorite with little black slides....got the curling iron heating...because this hair isn't going to do...LOL...
argh...what a baby I am....did anyone else feel this way going back into the work force? is it me....

No, it's not just you - I know I'll be the ame way when I work again some day - all nervous and jittery the first day. :nervous: However, it will all be fine, Renee. Once you get there the jitters will go away and I bet you'll have fun and enjoy being around adults a few times a week!! :)

So?? How was it? I know what you mean about being nervous. All the people that I knew who worked seemed so much more 'together' than I felt. But it worked out great. I got nervous again when something changed (like going to a meeting or another worksite) the first few times. But that passes. I'm sure you're going to be great!! Print out your comments and put them away to read next year sometime. I think you'll be surprised.
How great to start out with someone as a boss who likes and wants you!
I think you have it easier than most because you kNOW your bosses and its an easier transition than most people would have.
I am just as lucky as you. I work for my neighbors, who treat me like gold because I knew them before I worked there and don't treat me with the condesending attitude they give the others.

I feel that same way every year on the first day of school...always facing the "unexpected"... and lots of new people (nerve wrecking...even if they are 4 and 5 years old!!!). I do not sleep well the night before...and think about what I will wear MUCH more than a typical work day. You're not alone.....and we can't wait to hear about your day!!!:)

you have verbalized how I feel. I start official work on Tuesday when school starts but I have a district breakfast and meeting tomorrow morning. I can't decide what to wear. I don't want to be too dressy or too casual.....just perfect!!! I am excited to hear how your day went so make sure and post to let us know!! This returning is stressful isn't it?????
Well, how'd it go Renee? I'm always nervous about everything and things usually turn out fine! :)
first let me say...thanks for thinking of me....:)
It was great....heavy phones..but that will only be until the other gal comes back from vacation...then just straight accouting and data entry...I lucked out because I know how the system works because of the evening data entry I did when we were in NJ...so that was easy....cranked out an impressive amount of data....:) had to wow someone with my typing skills...good thing I didn't have to spell...mostly numbers...
my boss was late herself....just asked me to answer the phones and oh, can you data entry?...of course I can....talked with a few people I knew years ago....kept my mouth shut and eyes and ears open....worked for me....;) saw dh alot....I think it was a slow day for him and he kept coming up to bugg me :butterfly
it was a good day....everything went well...
off to do homework with the kids...:)
