Last night we had a big lightning storm. I've never seen lightening come straight down like that or be that bright before. Anyway our mother cat that had the 5 babies just a couple weeks ago never came back in with her kittens last night. That is not like her at all. She rarely leaves the yard at all.

So now we have 5 small small babies. We've taken droppers to feed them milk and have taken a warm damp cloth to wipe them off (we were told this is like the mother washing them ).

Any suggestions/tips on how to feed these babies. It breaks my heart when I hear them cry for their mamma that way.

Thanks!!

Poor things! :( All I know is that you can get baby bottles for orphaned kittens along with formula at pet stores. There's also somehow to make your own kitten formula, but I'm not sure what that is. You might call a vet tonight and see if there's something different. Good luck, and keep us posted on how they're doing!

The poor babies. I hope everything turns out okay. I don't know how to make the formula for the kittens either, but I know that you can buy cat's milk for kittens at pet stores. I would also call the vet and see if there were other things that needed to be done. Take care of them and keep us updated on their progress. :D

Poor babies. My dad rescued a little kitten under his house a couple of years ago and kept it. He got a bottle and formula at the local farm supply. They had bottles of all sizes and formula too.

I hope that everything is going okay and maybe by now the mother cat has returned 8o but if she hasn't, go to this site... I found it to be very informative. Good luck and please keep us informed as to how the little babies are doing.

http://www.acfacat.com/articles/dusty.html Make sure to read ALL of the way down... where it tells how to get them to go to the bathroom. 8o

Here's another site.

Diane,
Thank you so much for that link! That was very helpful.

We found a tiny bottle that works pretty good. They don't eat a whole lot in a sitting but they're getting better. Last night I had 2 or 3 of them purring after I fed them so I'm taking that as a good sign.

We've been trying to remember for sure, but we think they're about 3 weeks old so we're going to try to get them to drink from a saucer.

Thanks for all the help!
