It sounds like a lot of us are heading back to school soon, and some already have.
1. When do/did you go back to school? Tomorrow--Aug. 19)
2. Do you do anything special to kick off the new year ( like a special breakfast, last day of summer party, etc)??
Have a great school year!!
we started back Aug 5th....we did waffels for breakfast with whipped cream...kids love that chocolate stuff in the can.....
nothing spectacular what do you do?
They go back tomorrow. I usually do a special dinner the night before, but youth group starts tonite for ds and they eat there. So we did a family night last night. I will have something special baked for them, and then their favorite dinner for tomorrow.

Ds starts Sept 6. Dh starts workshops next week I believe.
This is our first year to have one in school. I think I'll bake him a cake and have a special supper. :)

I go back (ssshhhh!)tomorrow for inservice, and classroom set-up :bawling: and dks start on Monday (26th).
We really don't have a "tradition" for the first day of school...both of mine are really excited to go back and see all of their friends. It is a 1/2 day of school on the first day...(but I have to work the full day)...so dh is going to pick up the boys because I don't want them to have to go to "day care" on their first day of school!!!
:bawling: Tomorrow for us :bawling: Where did the summer go. We had our end of the year pool party at friends last night for the youth group. Then tonight there was a area wide youth devo.
Most mornings during school breakfast is toaster waffles or cereal, but ds has put in his order for sausage, poached eggs and hash browns so that's what it will be. Here our 8th graders attend classes in the HS. He's really nervous. He's afraid the lunch line will be too long and he won't get enough time to eat so he wanted to load up with a bigger than usual breakfast just in case.
I plan on making his favorite crock pot chicken fried pork chops for supper tomorrow.
I'll be involved in Kdg. screening all week and won't get my class till next Mon.

I decided to add another friend into the trip ...I'm gonna go to Oneonta friday night!!! Which means a weekend of hitting the Bars and eatting my favorite foods I have not had in a very Long time....Hot open Veggie sandwiches. Any one ever get to go there has got to go to Autumn Cafe and try this dish..They are the best!

When the kids were little I really never baked or made them anything special for dinner... but we always made it a point to take them to dairy queen for their favorite ice cream treat. :yippee: Now that dd is the only one in school and has a boyfriend... she'd rather go do something special with him instead... :bigcry: so dh and I will usuallyl go to the dairy queen ourselves. LOL

Hi everyone! We go back to school tomorrow. Today the boys have friends out to play. It is cooler here today and they have been outside almost all day playing army. I try to make them a special breakfast and dinner for the first day. I am thinking....this is my first day of school too....maybe dh should cook for us. :)
I think the highlight of our first day will be our dog having puppies. Wouldn't that be a fun thing to complicate us getting out the door on time????
WOW..that would be fun! Is this her first litter?
How have you been, see you lurking but never posting! LOL

We don't do anything too spectacular. You guys have some great ideas.
Our only tradition is taking their picture before we load up in the car to go to school.
It's funny how the first few days of school are the only ones out of the whole year that we get out the door on time!!8o
