I'm looking for suggestions for books to read to my 3 year old classes in the first few weeks. Looking for books that address new friends, going to school, apples and primary colors.

Your help would be appreciated.

Please email me if list is too long

One book that I'm fond of is The Kissing Hand. Also a book that helps kids feel like teachers are people too is My Teacher's Secret Life.

Check out the Dinofours book series (about a group of preschool aged dinosaur children.). My Pre-K class LOVES these books.

I love Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? My class always asked for it over and over. It's great for colors. I also like The Kissing Hand, but you may want to leave out some of the words at first. 3's have a pretty short attention span. I may be remembering the title wrong (I'll check later!), but my class loved Bright Eyes, Brown Skin. It shows 4 kids as they go through a typical preschool day. It has only a few words per page. My kids loved matching their schedule with the illustrations.

Try these:
Off to School, Baby Duck! by Amy Hest
Spot Goes to School, by Eric Hill
Timothy Goes to School, by Rosemary Wells
Bernard Goes to School, by Joan Elizabeth Goodman

(lots of similar titles!..but all good ones for 3 yr. olds)

I teach Kdg. and the Kissing Hand is the first one I read. I also start out with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault, Don't Eat the Teacher by Nick Ward, and What Teachers Can't do by Douglas Wood.

Happy Reading!

Another good one is My Teacher Doesn't Live at School. I also like My Teacher is My Friend. The Very Hungry Caterpillar is also a popular choice.
