not sure if it was on the discovery channel or TLC...but I watched it on Sunday...it was so interesting...they followed 4 girls and 4 boys for two years...ranging in age from 11- 16 Dr. Drew was the narrator and he also asked the children questions...it was so enlightening....and I don't have teen yet...

anyone else catch it...those with teenagers should check out the local listing for it....it was really a good series...:D

Watched the girls part with dd(11), thought it was very interesting and well done, never ever knew the part before about a girl not getting her period until she is over 105 lbs.
Last week dd and I took a little vacation to visit my parents and went to the Imax while we were there, we watched the Human Body, another very education show, a few of the interviews with the girls on the teen species where also in this imax show.

it was interesting to know that most girls are getting breasts earlier and their periods earlier, because of thier eating habits....also that most boys were clutzes around age 13...I just really enjoyed the childrens points of view also...

Ann~ there are exceptions to the rule...;) I didn't get my period till I was 17...so go figure...

I saw that it was on, but got sidetracked and didn't watch it. I'll have to watch for it.

Ditto about the weight comment - I was under 100 punds, too. :)

Our pediatrician told us that on reason the kids are developing quicker these days is because the the cows and chickens and other animals are given hormones and they are passed on to us and the kids through the food. hmmmmm. Just one more thing to worry about in the food.

From what I saw.... it wasn't how much you weigh but the amount of body fat you have that causes the start of your period. I'm thinking it was 22%. That is why girls are starting younger, because they are higher in body fat.

** Late notice **

I saw that it will be on The Learning Channel again tonight. I believe there are 3 episodes - 7:00 girls, 8:00 boys, 9:00 ?? and then at 10 they repeat them again starting with the girls.
